I find it hard to watch my favorite shows such as CSI (all of them), ER, First 48, things that contain someone dying mostly....because i know once i see it the warped thoughts will set in....does anyone else have a problem watching shows of that nature?

Oh most definately, you are on the mark there!!

I love shows like Greys Anatomy but I have to stop watching it because my brain latches onto these medical issues and although I know I don't have any of them I start getting paranoid. I stick with comedies not dramas!! lol! I think it's pretty common amongst us anxious types :-)

I do to Mizz (can I call you that?) I used to be a horror and action movie buff but anymore I can not stand all of the violence. It is even hard for me to watch a lot of the news on TV. . . I have to tune the gory stuff out and focus on the important things. Don't feel bad, there are so many of us that have changed our TV viewing patterns over the years :) I have just started watching even more comedy stuff and of course the sappy inspirational things too :) It helps me so much to just laugh. Takes my mind off of my problems :)

Take care and have a nice day :)

Sure u can call me that, i'm with you about the news, no one can understand why i avoid the news so much, i like to keep happy thoughts floating in my mind. I also tend to stick to the comedy's now, i'm so tempted to go see the new 3d horror movie though....I'll be up all night after that one.

I used to be the same way, had to completely give up on ER for years because it upset me so much.  It's better now, but I have changed what I watch so much that most of the shows I like are not those kinds anyway.

That's a new show I've come across. It's funny, yet kinda turned me into a hypercondriact (sp?)

I have always been able to watch shows like that. Then recently, shows that are upsetting really get to me. I don't know why. So, I just avoid them now.

DEFINETLY! i know how you feel. I wish I could just sit down and enjoy TV, but sometimes shows like that I just can't bear to watch. I always get this unavoidable twisted thoughts in my head, so if I ignore them, I'll be OK!

i can't watch the "reality" dr. type of shows at all. (what's that one? mystery diagnosis or something? eek! smhair can't do it!) also, grey's anatomy and er can be a little bit too realistic for me, so i don't watch them anymore. also house makes me feel uncomfortable sometimes, but i just love the show so much, i can't bring myself to stop watching!
love and hugs

this being human is a guest house.
every morning a new arrival-a joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awarenewss comes as an unexpected visitor.
welcome and entertain them all!
even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably
he may be clearing you out for some new delight.

I love House - his dry sarcasm touches my soul lol.

Yeah, I've watched episodes of shows when at the end I'm like -THAT COULD BE ME- or it brings up old issues that I've already beaten to death with a stick.

I try not to watch television an hour before bed... just because it's easy for me to obsess when I'm laying trying to sleep... and when I do watch something that hits a sore spot I try and occupy myself with something else until I can distract myself.
