Hi Masiii,

A warm welcome to you :) Sorry I had to edit you post because of the forum rules, please make sure to read them. . . I know how you feel as so do many others here. The panic attacks can be very scary and leave a person wrung out. The first step I would suggest is to make an appointment with your doctor and let him/her know what you are going through, so you can get the proper help with possible meds. Did you quit taking the AD after 6 months on you own without your doctor monitoring you?

While you are waiting for your doctor's appt. please browse our forums and learn some more about how things work here :) You can also check out our Anxiety-Panic Resources thread at the top of the forum page and you will find many links to great things like Breathing/Relaxation Exercises and a free online CBT (therapy) called MoodGYM that has helped many of us so much :) I wish you the best and hope things start looking up for you!

That's okay :) Don't feel alone, but we can't talk about certain things for our safety plus we have members as young as 13 on here :) That is good that you are having the tests run so when they come back you won't have to worry about them anymore :) I'm not going to lecture about stopping meds without a doc's approval, cause he sounds thorough and probably told you about it :) HealingWell is a great place and we have the best Peer Support Group on the internet for Anxiety and Panic, so you took a step in the right direction! There will be other members on here as well to talk to you and give great advice. Please feel comfortable to post more about yourself if you need some more advice :)

Take care!

Hey there,

when you start having a panic attack (which it sounds like you were), do you use deep breathing exercises? That helps me more than anyting else and it's simple. If you haven't try it you should. Just take in a slow deep breath through your nose, count to 4 or so and exhale slowly through your nose or mouth. Concentrate on your breathing until the symptoms of your pa subside. All lot of what you were describing happen because we breathe in shallow quick breaths and get too much oxygen in, which makes us hyperventilate. Hope you are feeling better today!

Hi Masiii,

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you on your first visit to Healing Well! To help you get the most out of the Anxiety and Panic Forum.

You have already met some of our warm and caring members.
Know your personal limits. One of the chief causes of anxiety is when a person takes on more than he can handle. Know your limits as to what you can do and how much you can do. It will go a long way in reducing anxiety in life. Reducing anxiety is not hard to do once a person knows how to it. The one principle to keep in mind is if you have any doubts about reducing anxiety on your own, seek professional help.

I am glad to hear you have an appointment with your physician.  Please do keep us posted and use the breathing exercises.........many people hyperventilate when anxious which in turn causes more anxiety.

Take care and again a warm welcome to you.

Kitt

Sounds like you may be hyperventilating during your panic attacks. I'm not a doctor, but that's what it sounds like to me. See a doctor to put your mind at ease. Someone already told you about a breathing exercise. You may want to practice with that. Even when you're feeling good. Feel better soon!
