So I saw my GYN today, just my usual yearly appointment. Last year she said my uterus felt a little big, so I went in for an ultrasound. Everything was fine. They said I had a small fibroid, and a very tilted uterus.

So I didn't expect any issues from it this time. Same story, feels a little big. Then she says that she could just not feeling it right though. Or I could just be feeling your intestines. Lets have another ultrasound.

Lets just say I was a hypochonriac nut that week waiting for those results. Anxiety and panic attacks through the roof! Thinking I had a tumor in there for sure. I've been doing WONDERFULLY lately, and for her to throw this at me now. Not good timing. I'm considering not doing the ultrasound. It's the same thing from last year. I'd like to see her give birth to a 10 pound baby and her uterus not be a bit enlarged anyway! LOL But it just seems like she's dismissing that it was okay last year, and there are good reasons that are nothing as to why it's a little enlarged. Why put me through unecessary tests for nothing? I don't want to take steps back in my progress with this anxiety. :(

Hi Jen,

Just keep thinking positive thoughts.  I would go through with the ultrasound, this time, just to be on the safe side.  But try not to worry about it.  But next year, remind her that everything was okay the two previous times and that you don't want the extra expense for nothing.

I hope that you have a good day today.  Keep up that positive outlook.

Hugs, Karen

I agree with Getting by, Jen.... It's always good to be on the safe side... And since you are getting all checked out and everything, no need to worry, right? :)
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

Hey Jen,

I agree with you, if it is the same old story as last year, just get the unltra sound and then your next follow up just say it is always a little big so I think I will pass to more ultra sounds unless you have discovered something different.

Mine whipped out a biopsy needle one time and wham I did not have time to get anxious but went home and cried and worried to get a normal result.  The next year she never mentioned a word and nothing had changed.

I apreciate your wanting to keep feeling good so do stay in the moment :)

Hugs to you kiddo,
KItt

Yeah it's just frustrating, like they don't see you in a year and forget everything. My uterus being tilted I'm sure has something to do with how it feels in there.

Just upsetting because I've already googled enlarged uterus, just a few sign of taking a step back. :(

My doc also told me once I had an enlarged uterus. He sent me for an ultrasound which showed nothing. Of course I was nervous.

The next year he mentioned it again. I reminded him that he had sent me the previous year and nothing was found. He looked me up and down and said..."well, you are a big person, maybe you have a big uterus!" I started really laughing. I am 5'9" and weigh about 170. All of my 3 kids were over 9 lbs. No wonder my poor uterus is big.

Oh wow! Seems like some doctors just get a bit on the nervous side and feel that tests are the way to go for everything. Unfortunately that just puts us under more stress and anxiety when it's not necessary!

I probably will go and have it, but this will most certainly be the last time. If she wants one again next year, I may just have to switch doctors!

Go ahead with the ultrasound. At least it's easy and doesn't hurt. Remind your doc that you suffer from anxiety and that you become easily frightened in regards to your health. She should make a note of it in your file to remind herself to be careful how she words things. Hang in there! Everything will be fine!
