Hey evry1,

about 2months ago I started weaning myself off meds (with doctors permission). I feel alot better im not having mood swings or crazy thoughts anymore and I feel alotlike my pre-anxiety self. However im under alot of stress right now and i have noticed im having alot of paranoid thoughts just about little things but its still worrying. Im also not sleeping properly, Im getting 8-10hours sleep some nights and still wake up feeling shattered. I dont dream i jus flaked out and wake up 8 hours later feeling like i have only been asleep for a few mins. Before i was under so much stress I felt ok though.

Its not like im having anxiety attacks altho i fear they are around the corner. I dont wether i should go back on meds knoing tht they will make me feel worse for 2weeks or just weather the storm and hope i dnt start havin anxiety attacks again. Its such a shame coz i was doing so well off them.

Thanks

Badfish

Have you thought about trying CBT instead? Maybe that will help you get control of your thoughts without having to go back onto medications. Just a thought!

Good luck,

Ditto Nanners! I would try some therapy/CBT first...med.s (at least SSRI's) take several weeks to get going and maybe you could have mastered a few techniques to help you cope in that same time period. If possible, I would see a therapist in your area that specializes in anxiety and has knowledge of CBT or other stress management techniques.

It sounds like you are more fearful of the attacks coming back than actually experiencing them...so that's good. I cut my meds. in half about a month ago and I have some days where I can't believe that I did that! But most days, I feel okay with it, I'm happier with fewer side effects and it allows me to work on alternative ways to cope. You would hate to back-track if you have been doing well thus far on lower medications.

That said, if the pressure continues and you aren't able to handle it on your own, certainly don't beat yourself up for taking care of yourself and taking the medication that you need. It's not worth being miserable!

Mom is right,

You shouldn't be afraid to take medications when you need them. I know that the side effects can be bothersome, but there are so many meds out there that you can go by trial and error until you find what is right for you.

Though I do hope that you can make it without them since that is what you prefer.

Do you know and breathing techniques? That often helps with anxiety and with panic. Practice that and meditation. And of course the cbt would help you like Mom said. I hope that you continue to feel well. This is such a hard thing to go through.

Best wishes for a wonderful day.

Hugs, Karen

Hey badfish,

I agree with the wise people that have already posted, stay out of the Anticipatory Anxiety Zone.............look how far you have come.

Please don't get stuck with the "what ifs" and "maybe I shoulds". Do try the CBT or the new one by MoodGym, E couch.  They are both  free.

You know that I am always here to support you and I know that you will be OK.  Remember to stay in the moment.  You know that drill so I won't preach to the choir. smhair

Hugs my friend.
