Hello to anyone who bothers to read this.
I have been busy with work and family and have not had the time to post anything, and these few days I have been feeling really unwell:
- jaw & neck tightness
- chest tightness
- chest pain that comes and goes in the centre and left of chest
- back pain (left side)
- a 'choking' feeling that comes and goes
- difficulty breathing
I know if I were to go see my doctor, he will say it is just my anxiety acting up again (there hasn't been any triggers and I have been taking my medicine regularly every morning). If I were to rush myself to the ER, they will most probably get an ECG/EKG done for the 10 millionth time and tell me that I am fine, for the 10 millionth time. They will suspect asthma again (I have a history of it) but it does not feel like asthma and my asthma inhalers don't make any of the symptoms go away. I have done many heart tests and they all said nothing was wrong with me - so if i were to persist one done on me right now, I have a feeling it will be the same answer coming from a different doctor at a different hospital but still the same old answer again.
I am telling myself it is JUST ANXIETY. I will take a xanax when I reach home tonight and I HOPE I will feel better.
Because of this I have been feeling down and I get irritated very easily.
Maybe it is stress and I may not realise it?
Anyone feeling the same as I do right now?
Telling myself it is just anxiety.

Hi Pinks could the work load at your job be triggering your anxiety? I am sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly and hope that the Xanax helps you to calm down and get feeling better.

Hello my friend.  Of course we read your posts, you are an important member of A & P. :-)

May I suggest you take your Xanax with you and if you start to have these feelings of your anxiety rising and the same sx, take a Xanax right away.  Stopping the anxiety in it's tracks is much better then trying to make it go away after hours of enduring it.

Also one of the best remedies for anxiety is to talk about it. So please keep posting to us and know we are here to listen and that we support you.

Remember you have anxiety, it does not have you.

Gentle Hugs

Hi Pinks,
I'm sorry you're struggling with that today.  It's hard when you have to wait to get some relief.  I don't know if you have any sayings or affirmations that you use at times like these, but I find it helps me to repeat the following to myself: "I am perfectly healthy in every way."  I don't know if it's the repetitiveness or the saying itself, but it does have a calming effect, especially when I am worried that there is something wrong with me.  I hope your day gets better.

You're definitely not alone. I get chest pain and the choking feeling when my anxiety is increased.

Sometimes it's hard to recognize that you're stressed, and it takes getting physical symptoms to realize.

Do you think you need to look into ways to combat stress before they make you physically aware?

I hope posting and taking the Xanax helped things!

I agree with taking a benzo with you to work. I find it is always best to stop anxiety in the beginning stages rather than to let it consume me and leave me with "what if" feelings for a notable amount of time. I get ill feelings too throughout many parts of my body. Like you, most are chalked up to anxiety. Now I take a benzo when feeling ill before I go to a doctorl, if it does not take care of it I assume it is something else that should be looked into. For instance, I have been suffering severe diarrhea and cramps for 3 days (each day getting better). It is probably food poisoning as we had been vacationing, but of course my mind leads me to think it is colon cancer. I have often read that anxiety sufferers have stomach issues as a symptom so I thought Hmmm maybe it is anxiety related and took a benzo. Now, the benzo did not stop the symptom so I know it is not anxiety but it did make me think more clearly about what was going on which in itself helps immensely. Instead of concentrating on the worst scenerio and thinking myself into more misery than I am already in I am up and around taking care of business and letting this "stomache flu" ride its course.

When I had the symptoms that you described, a benzo stopped it in its tracks.

Take care,

Thanks everyone for the reponses!

I do believe it is stress - today I am trying to divert my attention to other things so I'll feel calmer.

Well I usually bring my xanax with me everywhere I go, but since we girls like to carry different bags everyday, I forgot that I left it in my other bag yesterday (well it is here with me today!).

And the xanax HELPED last night. I felt so much better.

Today I still feel the pains here and there but definitely better than yesterday.

Thanks so much for reading and replying - that makes me feel so much better too!
