Hey guys, I've been suffering from DP lately, which triggered or was triggered by my severe anxiety, and I wonder if anyone has wondered if they suffer from anxiety/panic or DP disorder? What is the difference? My first panic attack was a feeling of horrible DP that lasted for a while and always came back on moments of stress... however, I know that I have also been living without DP for years and only get it on moments of stress. Now, I feel like I'm suffering more from DP than panic... I'm just confused as to what I have! =/
My doctor says typical GAD and DP is part of it, but reading about DP disorder I relate to it so  much?

I agree with your Doctor, if you have panic disorder, depersonalization can occur. It has happened to me many times. The more you dwell on it, the more you feel it. If you focus too much on every symptom you get, you may think they are stronger than the actual anxiety and panic. That's the vicious cycle panic and anxiety disorder creates.

Yeah... I guess. I'm just annoyed because ever since I broke up with my boyfriend about 2 months ago I feel like I'm never going to fall in love or like or connect with anyone else. SO many fears. This anxiety is definetly something.

Brazilgirl,

Believe me, you will "connect" with someone again. cool
I've been thru several break ups and it made me think that it was the end of the world. Guess what?! It wasn't. :-) I believe we have more than one soul mate in our lifetime. I'm not saying there isn't just one perfect match. I am saying that we can meet people and have great moments and it doesn't always happen with just one person. I know it's hard at first and it was only 2 months ago that you broke up with your boyfriend. You need time to heal. One step at a time my friend.

Hi Brazilgirl, I know you will connect with someone someday.  Maybe you are supposed to find your way out of this pit of anxiety knowing you can do this on your own and then that special person will magically appear.  :-)   At least that's what i try to tell myself when i'm feeling anxious and down about being alone.  It gives me more energy to climb out of the pit so to speak.  It's still hard though.  It's really tough to get out of the obsessive anxious thoughts but it will happen.

HUGS

BrazilGirl

Letting go is not easy but please do not get caught up with the stinkin thinkin about being alone forever. Just try to move on with your life and don't get stuck on the merry go round of what ifs.

Turn those negative thoughts into positive ones.  You will meet someone again someday, just believe.

Let go of your demands and expectations for how your life should be and make peace with the way your life is. Set yourself free inside. Then take whatever action you need to have your life be great.

Gentle Hugs
Kitt
