Good Morning Family,

The sun is shining and the temperature is suppose to get up to 50 degrees today..........whoooo hoooooooo a heat wave.  turn

Today's Question:

Is there anything that you see people around you doing or saying that adds a lot to their happiness, or detracts a lot from their happiness?

Kitt  :)

It's a lovely "34" feels like 25 here, lol. . . At least the High Plains Blizzard somehow missed us? I think we are in a vortex. . . :)

Anyway, this is such a great question! I see things like this all the time in both directions. . . Like some of my "closest" family will constantly say the most negative things constantly, and then they wonder why nobody wants to be around them or is negative in return. And then you have people like my grandmother that is generally happy and sweet. . . Very fun lady to be around :)

I feel that the whole "birds of a feather flock together" applies here. Of course if a person is negative or positive, whichever attitude will bring the same effects around them. That is why I feel CBT is a necessary step in life for anyone whether or not they are feeling anxious or depressed. Always room for positive thinking :)

Raining here, too......about 42 degrees and very windy! Yikes!

Definitely, positive thoughts are key! I visited an elderly woman on Friday who is bedridden due to an accident. Despite her circumstances, she was able to find happy things to talk about and laugh about, and honestly....I thought I went there to cheer her up, and I think she cheered me up even more!

Great answers by all.

The primary difference between happy and unhappy people is the sense of personal control or victimization. Most of the people I encounter feel like they are masters of their own lives.

I also encounter people who feel like victims, and those people are never happy. No one is happy when they feel trapped…but I don’t believe any of us is ever trapped. Other than in the case of illness, we have the power to create and change our circumstances, and continuously grow, learn and improve our lives. And even in the most adverse situations, people who choose happiness find nuggets of joy and something to gain from each experience.

I wish you all peace.

Kitt

Kitt.....what a wonderful post.  It reminds me of a quote by Viktor Frankl, the author of Man's Search For Meaning:  “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing; the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."

Thank you, Kitt.  You are such a kind person.  I'm very much humbled by your words.   blush   I am only trying to follow the many wonderful role models on this site, and trying to share and give back the support and compassion that has been given to me since I joined.  I've never witnessed such a loving, giving group of people, and it's really been a Godsend in these past weeks.  It is so good to know that I am not alone in these challenges, and to know that we are all striving and lifting each other up in the best way we know how.  (((hugs))) to all of you.

Hmm.... I see people who hang around with friends, people who don't hold grudges.... etc. etc. I believe that contributes to their happiness...

But I've also seen people who are always in a hurry and never slow down, people who snap at just about anything, people who get really depressed about not having a boyfriend/girlfriend, etc. etc. and I believe that detracts from their happiness....

Also...

Err... Avistan... You left your caps lock on... :)... It'd be nice to read your post without all caps... :)
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

Now that is what I call a positive, happy attitude!  (I don't think I could be as happy if it were snowing here...LOL!  Just call me impatient for Spring!  :-) )
