Today's Question:

Is there a happiness mantra or motto that you’ve find very helpful?

"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
~ Groucho Marx

"Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world through the eyes of a child."
~ Ron Wild

These are a couple of my favorites. Groucho because I didn't think he was that deep. And it is so true. Live today like there is no tomorrow. And make it the best you can.

Ron Wild... Never grow up because if you do then you grow old. See everything as it is fresh and new and imagine what you can do. Imagine climbing that tree or playing in the grass with a puppy. Just like its your first time. New and fun no worries about who is watching you what you look like. Or making a fool out of yourself. Because what others think does not matter in the end. But how you live your life does.

I will have a go at my post..........LOL

When our minds are troubled by life's challenges, practice of the mantras can be performed as a kind of balm, to soothe the anxiety, sadness or agitation in the mind. Even if the mind is competing with the mantra recitation, the latter will gradually wear down the mental chatter, leaving one in a peaceful state.

For myself when I start to feel the anxiety coming on, I will repeat " I am Ok, I am OK".  I say this slowly and practice my deep breathing at the same time. Another one I use is " Take it easy,  take it easy"

It helps me live in the present moment. It helps me slow down. I feel that I'm much more compassionate, and I have a better ability to concentrate on whatever it is I'm doing.
Choose what works for you.

Hugs

I am generally a happy, optimistic person. So, that helps. But I usually tell myself, "it is only anxiety, it will pass". And then I hold on for dear life.....

"Breathe deep, seek peace" is a sort of mantra I use to calm myself down when I'm very upset... (It comes from the book Dinotopia...)

As for happiness... Well, there really isn't much I say to get me into a happy mood... I just do things... Like smiling...
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.
