Hey guys, so I went to my weekly therapy session and although my big crisis is over, I still feel pretty sad and scared about life. My therapist talked to me and said that now I have much more of a depression than anxiety/panic. Which actually makes sense because I mean, I don't really get panic attacks but just a general worry, emptyness about life.

She decided to up my setralin 12,5 mg because even though she said I was doing better, she and I believe I could be feeling EVEN better and she said that doctors treat depression with higher doses than anxiety.

Has anyone gone from anxiety to depression??

I mean, like she said, I have a mix of all, but depression is more prevailing now.

Hi BrazilGirl,

I struggle with both anxiety and depression. My doc refers to it as a two-sided coin, and says it is fairly common. I find that both 'sides of the coin' have some similar triggers.....situations where I feel I have no control, or where I am going to be inundated with work, or when I have been rejected by someone, or when tragedy befalls someone close to me....those are just examples.

I'm really glad you are seeing someone for therapy. I've found it really helpful myself. I hope things continue to improve for you, and that the adjustment in meds works in the way your doc anticipates for you.

I just wanted to tell you the two aren't always linked together. I know I only suffer with anxiety. I have had depression many many years ago, but right now anxiety is my only problem. I have other health issues, but with my mental health its only anxiety.

And I went the other way...was very depressed for about 10 years, got it under control through medication, and only then was the anxiety apparent.

Hey I am just like Ben,

I don't know which comes first sometimes, the anxiety or depression. I feel like if I could keep the anxiety and "stinkin thinkin" under control I would not feel depressed.

I just weaned off of ADs after over twenty years of being on one so we will see how it goes.

Please know that many people have both Anxiety and Depression .

Gentle Hugs

As Nanners stated, they don't always go together. I'm not a doctor. I'm just bringing up what I've experienced and/or read. I've had anxiety issues off and on for over 20 years and just now became depressed. Everyone is different. Don't read too much into depression. There are a lot of wonderful books on the subject and depression can most certainly be cured. Take care!
