Hi All

I have reached the grand age of 34 today. I hope that this coming year will be a good one after a tough one, I am now back in the UK and have an appointment with my clinical phycologist on the 14th April to discuss my current situation and arrange some CBT. I am at my wits end and feeling very frustrated with my GAD/Depression and just want to get better and have more control over how I am feeling. I am looking to make some big changes this year (looking for a new job being one) and a bit unsure what the future holds for me which is causing me anxiety and depression but hopefully the CBT will help. I went to see my doctor and talked about my medication and maybe going onto abilify but he would like my pdoc to make that decision so will talk to the re this on the 14th he also said about coming of Effexor as i don't feel it has helped me much but said he would like me to give it a go without any antidepressants which im not sure about?

Thanks again to all the people who have helped me over the last months I have really appreciated your advice and support you know who you are.

Take Care

Ben

Hi Ben,

Happy birthday to you! I hope you have a wonderful day. :-)

I'm glad you were able to get an appointment to see your psychologist soon, and I think the CBT is a great idea. My therapist uses it in my sessions with her, and I've found it to be helpful.

It sounds like you are really motivated to move forward with your life, and I think that attitude will help you a lot.

All the best to you......make sure you do something nice for yourself today, okay?

Happy birthday, Ben! What a great gift you're giving yourself, with those strong plans to move forward. It's scary to make big changes, but you'll do it, and you've got lots of great support lined up, from your doctors, and all of us!

Happy Birthday, and it is a great pleasure to meet you Ben!

It certainly seems like we all have a tendency to focus so much on something that is in reality such a small part of who we are, but I understand all too well why we do it. Regularly having anxiety/panic/depression/etc. impacts us very deeply. That being said, please don't neglect the greater portion of what makes you special. I can tell by your posts that you are an appreciative, compassionate person, and I would rather have 10 friends like you than 1 "normal" friend that is preoccupied with the trappings of fame and fortune.

Things will get better for you, and I look forward to your successes! :-)

Ben, welcome home and happy belated birthday! I hope your birthday was a good one!

You have some great plans for the coming months. I wish you the best in finding a new job. Times are tough but you will find something. Don't worry about the future. We can't control the future and it just adds depression to ya. I'm sure your future holds wonderful things! How could it not?

Take things slowly and take care of you! Carol

Ben, I actually live in the past. I don't think a day goes by that I don't dwell on the past or just think about it. I'm a lot like you where I need to try to stay in the moment as Kitt always mentions and let go. Good advice! We'll practice together, Ben...
