My psych says its to stop the thoughts that are causing me to panic. I'm already on Xanax and Prozac (.175mgx3; 30 mg, respectively) but I've been on those for years.
I'm scared about taking another one. I've read a bit on here about other people but not too much on it for panic. I took 1/2 of 25 mg last night. I felt a bit tired and for one second, I felt like I would faint. Otherwise I still have my other symptoms.
Has it stopped any panicky thoughts for anyone?
And unfortunately, my symptoms CAUSED any panic I feel, so I think the symptoms should be dealt with. I think my doc doesn't believe me when I say that; I think he thinks the actual symptoms ARE panic and I disagree. shakehead

I was on Seroquel for Bipolar Disorder but was also told by my doc that it would help with my anxiety/panic. I can't say whether or not it did because any side effect I feel causes me to have a panic attack. I'm very afraid of being medicated. I never made it past 50mg because within 15 minutes I would pass out and be very groggy the next day. I have to commute 45 minutes and just didn't feel safe driving so groggy the next morning.
Now I only use it if I absolutely have to for sleep as prescribed by my doctor.

Thank you for your post. I heard the sleep effect wears off after a bit and that it takes at least 2 weeks to work. Did you or anyone else have this happen? I feel a bit twitchy on it too...spasms of head, legs...
Is there anything specifically for blocking anxiety thoughts besides Seroquel anyone has been on that they liked? (Yes I know everyone is different)

I get that misunderstanding from some of my docs, not realizing that I panic *BECAUSE* I feel physical symptoms, not that panic causes them in the first place. All that's worked for me is to explain to them slowly and clearly, often with a written list of questions that I won't deviate from until they answer *all*. With some, it never works - so I don't deal with them. But my PCP and ENT are very good about listening to what I'm describing *first* and diagnosing *second*. That ease some of my health anxiety. Maybe it will work for you too.

He still thinks something's causing the symptoms. He's like, "so what's REALLY bothering you?' I said 'my symptoms'. But I lost my job a week ago but I didnt get freaked or anything about it b/c I still live w/my parents. I said my dad's an ass but he's been that way since I was a kid. These things never caused me to panic.
So he says, "so you feel overwhelmed?'
I'm like, "Umm, not really"
He literally either finishes my sentences or will interrupt me when Im answering a question with another question!
I'm freaking out. This is $60 a session; I've had 3 sessions in one week. I have NO job. I cannot work when I'm like this. I'm ****ed! I about doctors actually give a ****? What a concept.
Ok...done w/that...
But he cut my Seroquel down to half of 25 mg/night. Then he upped my prozac to 40 mg and kept Xanax on .25 3x/day.
