first of all, today has been awful. I had a panic attack randomly for no reason and a headache all day. about an hour ago i decided to make a smoothie to get some vitamins since i didnt eat much all day and i got really really cold and while i was trying to warm up my right pointer finger went completely numb and turned dead white. i tried not to freak out but as i tried to warm it up nothing happened and it stayed white...i freaked out and showed my dad who said "WHAT did you do to it?!?!?!" and i said nothing!! because i hadnt done anything!! and he rubbed my arm until it got colour back...
i am so scared that i am dying or something...
maybe i just got it too cold????
can stress make you numb??!?!
please dont tell me i have some horrible disease

Hang in there, and take deep breaths. Were you holding the cold smoothie with that hand? You may just have chilled that finger a lot and didn't notice because you were distracted. It sounds like your dad knew just what to do to help out.

If the headaches are still bothering you, I think a visit to your docotr is in order, just to find out how to take better care of them when they happen, and maybe how to prevent them.

You will be fine for now, and can take just one step at a time to find out if anything needs to be done to improve your health.

I'm a queen of health anxiety myself, and i can't think up any terrible diseases that you might have, so maybe that's a good sign. I'm usually great at thinking up worst-case scenarios.

Hugs to you, sweetie,

alwayslove,

Good Morning.  I have Raynaud's  Phenomen which causes a problem very similiar to what you described. I have had it for years.  I am not saying you have it, just food for thought :)

Here is the link that explains this phenomen:

Please remember to take those deep breaths and try not to get caught up in the anticipatory anxiety.  You are going to be OK.  You have anxiety and we are all here to help you through the tough times and celebrate the good times.

Take care and keep talking to us.

Hugs
Kitt

Hi

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time at the moment you have been given some great advice by percycat and kitt.  All I would add is that maybe you could look into some therapy to help you through these issues with anxiety, CBT is a good therapy and im due to start some soon.  I found that therapy really helped me the last time i did some and might be something you could look into?.  Take Care and know we are always here to listen and support you.

Hey, alwayslove,

You sound like you're in the throes of health anxiety. It's okay not to read or surf about symptoms; in fact, for lots of us with HA, those are BAD triggers. You might feel better if you made an appointment with your doctor. Make a list of questions for him/her, and try to write down the answers to each one. What especially helps me is to ask how what I'm experiencing is different from what I'm fearing. For instance, if you really were afraid of losing a finger, you could ask your doctor how what happened to you is NOT ABLE to make that happen. Then write that answer down, or have your parent or a friend repeat it to you over and over.

I'm glad you gave me the chance to write about this, because I'm off to my ENT tomorrow to talk about this throat-closing sensation again, and YOU'VE helped me to remember how to make the most of my visit.

Thanks,
percycat
