All,

I just spur-of-the-moment decided to take an ativan and go for a walk in the woods so that I won't stay scared of having some breathing condition when all my doctors say I'm fine.  I made it!

I'm back in the house now, typing to all of you.  It was a little scary at some points, but my PCP says that so long as my peak flow meter (used by folks with asthma, which I don't have) is above a certain mark, my lungs and throat can't be closing up.  It was sky-high and clear the whole time.  I do have some throat tightness, all on the right side where my anxiety usually makes my throat tense, but when I stand up, that goes away, and I know that I am breathing just fine right now.  I'm a little nervous, coming back down from trying to be brave, but with luck, there will not be a trip to the ER tonight just because of anxiety.

Hurray!

percycat....

that is really really good to hear. im kind of in your same boat right now... i felt good today and even went to target just got back and decided to relax on the computer i still feel a little anxious but ive been telling my mind to relax and just breath normal with out having to think about it. i still gotta do some test this week so the problem doesnt get worse. i feel a little weak and did some coughing while i was in target. but i think its from not walking around like that in a while? maybe my body isnt used to it or something anymore. im supposed to go back to school tommorow... i just might go :-) ..... im glad you decided to go to the woods.. do you live near the woods? seems like you go there alot. i dont know if your religious but i also been doing alot of prayer and listening to only gospel music lately. also i try to keep negativity to 10% .. and i been sleeping with air purifers and the air condition on full blast. seems to help.
hope to hear more good news.....!!!!
hugs!

Congrats Percy! It took me a few months. My first experience was with a flight to Denver and it was hard!!!People have no idea about this disease. My partner made me take my I-POD and movies. Although, the closer we got to get gate, the more I panicked. I put my head down during take off and was fine. All thanks to this room!!! They helped me through!

HIP HIP HURRAY!! Wow that is so wonderful Percy!... Good news to hear you were able to do it with little reaction. Keep it up. Soon it will be like nothing and you can enjoy your walk in the woods!

YEEEESSSSSS!!!! Good job and great way to take control of your anxiety!!! Keep up the good work!!! You know sometimes I think we have to get a little mad at our anxiety and battle against it to show who is really the boss. Really proud of you!!!
