I always recommend telling people to pick a focus word or short phrase that's firmly rooted in your personal belief system when meditating. This should work for anytime your in panic mode. A non-religious person might choose a neutral word like one, peace, or love. Others might use the opening words of a favorite prayer from their religion such as 'Hail Mary full of Grace', "I surrender all to you", "Hallelujah", "Om", etc.
When I am feeling the panic start I usually just keep breathing slowly and repeat "I am OK".
Hey there Always,
Here is part of an old Navajo prayer you may like and it is easy to memorize and recite.
With beauty before me, may I walk. With beauty behind me, may I walk. With beauty above me, may I walk. With beauty below me, may I walk. With beauty all around me, may I walk.
"I can do ALL things through He who strengthens me."

I use this alot when I get very ferful and panicky:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a strong mind".
I also use: "This is just my anxiety-it will pass" as I clinch and unclich my fist and smybolically throw the scary thought away or blow it away with a deep breath.
.The Serenity Prayer has been part of my life for so long since 1979
IT works for me as well
I am sorry that you have lost your hearing completely. I know that does not help alot but I don't know what else to say to make it better. If I could make it better I would. :)
I too have always loved the serenity prayer.
