the strength to change the things i can,
and the wisdom to know the difference." x100000000000000000000 lol

Good Morning,

I always recommend telling people to pick a focus word or short phrase that's firmly rooted in your personal belief system when meditating.  This should work for anytime your in panic mode. A non-religious person might choose a neutral word like one, peace, or love. Others might use the opening words of a favorite prayer from their religion such as 'Hail Mary full of Grace', "I surrender all to you", "Hallelujah", "Om", etc.

When I am feeling the panic start I usually just keep breathing slowly and repeat "I am OK".

Hugs,

Kitt

Hi Always,

Here are a few of the phrases I use when I'm having troubles......

When I am experiencing health anxiety, I use the phrase: "I am perfectly healthy in every way."

When I am upset or grieving, I meditate using the phrase: "Heal me".

When I'm anxious or fearful about being able to accomplish something, I simply say, "I can do this....I can do this", as many times as it takes.

I use prayer a great deal to help me with anxiety and depression.  Above all else, I believe that faith sees me through the toughest days and nights.
Living one day at a time.

Hey there Always,

Here is part of an old Navajo prayer you may like and it is easy to memorize and recite.

With beauty before me, may I walk.
With beauty behind me, may I walk.
With beauty above me, may I walk.
With beauty below me, may I walk.
With beauty all around me, may I walk.

May you always walk in peace,
Kitt

You all have such wonderful ideas! I tend to get caught in the issue of the moment and say, "I've been through this before, and it didn't hurt me" over and over. I like the others above so, so much better.

Thanks, alwayslove, for starting this thread. You're such a plus to the forum!

I use this alot when I get very ferful and panicky:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a strong mind".

I also use: "This is just my anxiety-it will pass" as I clinch and unclich my fist and smybolically throw the scary thought away or blow it away with a deep breath.

Dear Lyn,

I am sorry that you have lost your hearing completely.  I know that does not help alot but I don't know what else to say to make it better. If I could make it better I would. :)

I too have always loved the serenity prayer.

Kitt
