The topic i came upon when searching the internet was listed here so i am posting this here because that topic ended about a year and a half ago

Ok so heres the issue.

Almost every night i get these feelings in my head like crawling bugs and tingling .. It happens mostly on the right side of my head near the top ... my forehead ... and around my temple on the right side ... Occasionally it happens on the left and occasionally the back of my head feels like it is bleeding inside. It causes me to relentlessly rub the areas of my head and a find sometimes i am almost going into auto drive and my hand starts rubbing hte areas without even conscious thought. It is rarely associated with any kind of actual pain but it drives me up the wall and scares me half to death when ti gets bad. sometimes my forehead will feel like it is getting hot or ill have the wierd feeling in my eyebrow over my left eye and have to rub it constantly to get it to calm down.

Ive had an MRI done as i recently went to a neurologist and found i have a couple infarcts (not sure of spelling) but he said there is absolutely nothing to worry about as they would not be causing the problem and they are very small and are absolutely no danger to me. He mentioned MS but said he highly doubts it is MS as i have no other symptoms. He did a few tests with pin pricks and reflexes and such and there are no problems. I went for a Lyme disease test today and asked my regular doctor to add all STDs to the blood tests so i could rule anyhting like that out.

I used to play hockey and because of it my spine is out of alignment sometimes ... I see a chiropractor 2 0 3 times a week for adjustments and for the last few months my Atlas and Axis have been out of alignment shifting left in my neck. MY chiropractor swears up and down it is just a structual problem with my neck hitting nerves and having subluxations that is causing the issue.

I ALSO have wicked Jaw pain on the right and left side of my jaw right where it opens on hte sides by my ears. my chiropractor has been adjusting my jaw and says there is a delay on the left side. Sometimes when i open my mouth i will get a huge pop and pain in the right side. i also have everday pain from the jaw and it constantly cracks .. atleast 100 times a day which i have become almost OCD about and will just move my mouth around to crack it constantly because i think it will help and i am a moron.

TMJ has been mentioned to me stating that my TMJ joint may be causing the head issue ... Lyme disease has been mentioned to me stating the signs are similar .. Stress has been mentioned but hte only stressful thing in my life is this.. MS has been mentioned but close to ruled out. Subluxations in my neck has been mentioned. build up of stress throughout the day has been mentioned.... BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND

if someone has anything similar and has some info they can give PLEASE HELP OUT... i almost feel insane since this has been happening every night for like 6 months ... almost never during the day.

im sorry for the long rant but its going on right now and i swear im losing my mind. IT is also so hard to acurratly describe the feeling that i wish i could jsut take my head off and give it to the doctor to put on so he could figure it out

Jersey98,

Welcome! Part of what you're experiencing sounds like my health anxiety - concerns about health despite having good results from all tests so far. I would encourage you to check into therapy - either in person with someone or through one of the online sites like MoodGym - that can help you to develop some tools for keeping your thoughts from going to the worst-case scenario.

I remember having the jaw-cracking and popping issues when I was younger. It was not diagnosed as TMJ, but since I had tons of orthodontic work done that changed my bite pattern and jaw behavior, I can believe that's what it was for me. If that's the case for you, I hope the chiropractic treatment will help correct the issue.

Try to hang in there, and know that you're taking very good steps toward figuring out what's wrong, by seeing your chiropractor and physician. As you get some answers and find more questions, be sure to ask them not just about a diagnosis, but about what might help to reduce the sensations, or what else should be tested. When my helath anxiety gets out of control, information from the doctors who know me best helps some.

Good luck!
