Good Morning and you are not the only one with concerns re the flu so rest assured your normal.  :)

Here are some facts that may help you:

What is swine flu?
It's a form of influenza that commonly affects pigs and, more rarely, humans.

Can I get it from eating pork?
No.

What are the symptoms?
They're similar to more common strains of influenza: fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people also report coming down with a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

What measures can we take to protect ourselves and our families?
It basically boils down to exercising plain old common sense. Wash your hands frequently. Cover your cough. Stay away from sick people. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.  If you get sick, stay home so you don’t spread germs to others, and call for advice from your physician who will then decide what treatment is needed.

I hope this helps decrease some of your anxiety re the flu.

Gentle Hugs,
Kitt

Hello again, Skysmommy. I think if it weren't the Swine Flu, you'd be worrying about something else. From past threads, I can tell you're a worrier. It's quite common but a difficult habit to break. Your mom or dad were probably worriers and now you've learned to be one.

I want you to try something. Put a rubber band around your wrist. Make sure it's not too tight (obviously). Every time a worry or negative thought comes to mind, I want you to snap the rubber band. In about 5 minutes you'll see how often you do this worrying thing.

This is going to prove how unhealthy your thinking is. You'd be surprised how well this little experiment works. Let me know how it turns out.

Hang in there!

It seems that the alert levels are decreasing world-wide, and that there is more reason to believe that folks in more developed countries will either not contract swine flu or else receive timely treatment before it becomes more serious. (I read the news daily on CNN.com.)
