Hello everyone I am a 34 year old male wiyh chronic anxiety. My job is very stressful as well as my home life ( 2 young kids and lots of bills). I have had anxiety for as long as i can remember but only had it diagnosed and been medicated 5 years now, but it is still a constant battle everyday to control these feelings. Sometimes I will go months without having bad anxiety and then I may have it for 2 weeks straight. Sometimes I feel like I am the only person in the world feeling like this and I wonder why me when I have so many good things going on in my life, But in reality I know there are many people out there that feel same way. I think I just need to talk to people that can relate with me and maybe help others as well.

Hello Estan and Welcome to HW,

I am Kitt and I have had anxiety for 27 years.  It is almost always there just below the surface but I have found with medication and with working in therapy ways to cope with the anxiety.

You are not alone.

Welcome to HW

Kitt

Eric,

Welcome to HW.  You are definitely not alone in what you are going through.  I've had p/a for over 19 years now, and have been through many meds and therapists, but honestly have gotten the most help right here, talking with others who are going through the same things I am.  I was just wondering if you use cbt as a way to help you with your anxiety.  Cbt has done wonders in helping me to move from where you are with constant anxiety and alot of panic attacks to feeling more balanced and calm.  Maybe that is something that would help you.  Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Thank you June for your support I have not taken any therapy yet but am open to trying. The medication i am on helps most of the time but some times nothing helps it seems it must just run its course. The hardest part is trying to get a certain thought or fear out of your head, also if I start feeling good i think about my anxiety and it flares up.

I really think that Cbt would be helpful for you, it can help to deal with those "sticky" thoughts.  If you do a search online you'll find some resources, as well as some here on the site...in the boxes over to the right.  I've done Cbt for years, so could be of some help too, if you'd like.

Hi

Welcome to HW this is a great forum. Sorry to hear that your anxiety is causing you problems I can relate to the constant battle to control your anxiety as I have had problems with anxiety for most of my life and I am also in that battle as are the rest of the members here so you are not alone. You are part of the family now and we are all here to listen and support you if needed so do keep posting to tell us how you are getting on. As others have mentioned talk therapy's such as CAT & CBT have great results with people who have chronic anxiety so could be something you could look into, I have had CAT and found that helped me to look back into the past and find out were my anxiety started and work out why I feel the way I do about things I am on a waiting list at the moment for CBT and looking forward to starting that. I hope things start to improve you my friend stick in there and know we are always here if you need to talk.

Take Care

Ben
