just curious like if I knew someone, I could private message them through this site, or/and make them my buddy on the site? or is that not how this site works?..

No this is a peer support forum. For anything private I would suggest emailing with them. You can talk on our chat forum, but it really isnt private.

Been living with Crohn's Disease for 33 years. Currently on Asacol, Prilosec, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain, Zofran, Phenergan, Probiotics, and Calcium and Xanax as needed. Resections in 2002 and 2005. Also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and Anxiety. Currently my Crohns is in remission.

Nanners is correct.   Support groups are a place for people to give and receive both emotional and practical support as well as to exchange information. People with health conditions, as well as their friends and families find support groups to be a valuable resource and get confirmation that their feelings are "normal", educate others, or just let off steam. IMHO joining a support group is joining a family and depending on just one person in the family is not always healthy and may defeat the purpose of being a member of a group.

As far as making friends here in HW you certainly can email and chat in the chat rooms if you choose, but the rooms are open.  We do not have a IM feature as part of HW.
