Wellbutrin for OCD?

Hey everyone,

It's been two weeks since i have upped my dose of Paxil from 25 mg CR to 50 mg CR. The beginning was riddled with side effects that i thought i won't experience again but now as everything is settling I have a small query.

I know it's only been 2 weeks but i only i feel slightly better. My ocd is still there and i am just wondering when will doubling the dose reap its full effect?
Also i have been sleeping like a polar bear in hibernation! On weekends i sleep up to 16 hours a day! I know sleeping makes me escape my OCD and my rituals but i wonder if anyone recommends Wellbutrin with Paxil.

I have certainly gained weight for the past year because of paxil and have become as lazy as a Sloth- Could wellbutrin balance that by providing energy and stopping the weight gain?

Tough questions to answer as each person reacts to meds in their own way.  I tried the Wellbutrin with and SNRI, Cymbalta, and the two did not mix well for me. I felt way over medicated.

I would give your med more then 2 weeks.................it can take 4-6 weeks for the full therapeutic effect of any of the AD's to truly be able to say they are not working, IMHO.

Paxil is good for putting weight on. I know when I was on it I gained weight. But I didn't last on it for more then 2 months. I did put in an exercise routine when I started Paxil and then celxia. But piggy backing the 2. (ending one and starting the next) I gained a total of 65 lbs in the matter of about 4-6 months ( its been 9 years. can't quite remember)

Though I did sleep very well while on the 2. My dad put on lots of weight but never got sleepy from them. He is on celxia now and still goes like the energizer bunny (and he is 60). But he is one chunky dude. I swear he is gonna give birth to triplets any time soon.

Just watch your food intake. He has major food cravings and is now diabetic. Because he over eats. And of course the doc blames the meds and his thyroids being removed over 35 years ago. He is comfortable on this thyroid meds and will not have them readjusted to see if they will help him lose weight.
