I started to get sick last evening, something going around at work.....sore throat, fatigue the usual. Well I am exhausted but when I went to go to sleep I felt the heart was racing, breathing was labored and found it set off my anxiety. Does anyone else get this when they are sick. I know this is all is my head but would feel better if someone told me your body just has to work a little harder when it is under the weather. Thanks sad

I do too. If I am sick or if I havent gotten enough rest it feels like my body is hyper sensitive and reacts easily to all those sensations which usually causes anxiety or panic attacks!

I'm the same way.  Whenever I get sick it seems to bring on alot of the anxiety symptoms on top of the illness symptoms.  It's no fun, for sure, but if you just remember that your body is fighting whatever illness you have and trying to make you better, so it truly is working harder than normal, maybe it will help you stay more calm.  Hope you feel better soon!

Not for the common cold, but when I have an upset stomach or sinus issues, absolutely!

I am the same way. When I feel sick -- everything from the common cold to a bout of Ulcerative Colitis coming on -- my anxiety goes up. Actually sometimes the anxiety goes before the illness arrives in noticeable form so it's like an advanced warning system. :)

I can definetly answer that in the positive. Not for a common cold, but when my Crohns is acting up it does cause my anxiety to increase.

Yes I get more anxious when I am ill.  For a nasty upper respiratory infection that lays me out flat, yes I would have increased anxiety.

Absolutely. Every time I start to get sick I get panicky especially if I am away from home. Usually minor stuff doesnt bother me too much but if it makes my heart race, or theres any major effects n my body I go straight into panic mode.

Illnesses brings on anxiety to begin with, so when you suffer from an anxiety disorder, it just makes it worse!

The past few days I've been having symptoms of migraines, feeling yucky and dizzy, upset tummy abit too and boy, did it set my anxiety off big time. Can't remember the last time I felt anxiety like that!

Try to do some deep breathing and tell yourself you're going to be OK. Even write out with pen and paper how you're feeling.. Or, call a friend, reach out to someone. Distraction helps!

Hello
This usually happens when you are working hard and that too for longer hours that your body starts to react causing viral fever eve common cold, headache. It depends on job your are in,like if you work on computer for too long eyes and head begins to pain. And yes anxiety do become stronger during such situations.
