Anastasia,

You are definitely not alone with that symptom. My heart rate and blood pressure also get very high when I'm having an anxiety attack. Some members seem to have good luck just sitting and breathing slowly to a particular count. I usually have to just ride it out...

Sometimes I can breath and releive it but unfortunately most of the time during a panic attack, I have to ride it out as well. And the ride is horrible. I tend to feel like I have to pace around the house when I feel that bad because I think something is seriously going to happen to me. It is so hard to stay calm and sit down for me but sometimes I manage to do it.  It seems like small things that scare me can set off panic mode for me. For instance if I am reading about some health issues and I start worrying that I may have it. Well thanks for your support.

Anastasia,

I'm sorry about your panic attacks. I too am the same way. When I get a panic attack with a racing heart there is no way I can just sit down, I'm pacing the whole house and the outside world, while drinking ice cold water, and sometimes I have to dump that on my head....no joke! I do try to do breathing excerises in between as that does help but unfortunely we are not thinking to cleary in order to do so. I have GAD but recently have this huge issue with health anxiety, I cannot read or listen to someone talk about a disease or sickness, because then all of a sudden I have all the symptoms. But my biggest health anxiety reason right now is the fact that I've had a fever for over 2 1/2 months now!!! But we will get through it! Are you taking any meds or going to therapy right now? Good luck!

Every day my heart races and/or skips beats. I usually lay there and let it happen. Or, I might write in my journal or go out by the pool and sit. I remind myself that my heart is healthy, I've had all the tests.

My heart races every morning because of my thought process. I'm working on changing that. Stay calm when it happens. A healthy heart can withstand 220 bpm. Remind yourself that it is harmless and temporary. Keeping yourself busy will stop the racing. Let us know how it goes!
