Last year I went through a period where I couldn't sleep more than an hour to an hour and a half. I woud wake up and not be able to go back to sleep. My anxiety level was through the roof! This lasted for at least six months. I was afraid I would collapse and die from lack of sleep...but I didn't or I wouldn't be here typing this...lol! I'm not trying to be funny...I have to laugh a bit now that it's over just from gratitude that I am still here.

I think I went through this because I was weaning from the benzodiazapine, Ativan. It was very hard to get through and I didn't think I would be able to do it. I've always had some problems with insomnia and I still do, but it's not as bad as it used to be. I average at least five hours of sleep a night now. Most of the time it's broken up sleep but at least I get some sleep.

Try to get your mind off sleep...read or just lay in bed and rest your body...don't look at the clock or that will drive you crazy with anxiety. Try muscle relaxation...deep breathe...think of someone or something that makes you really happy and concentrate on that. If you are a praying person...Pray. All of this helps me to get to sleep. I don't know anything about celexa but I'm sure someone will come along who does and will help you out there. I hope you will be able to get some sleep soon as sleep is the great healer. Please let us know how you are. I care and know others do as well.

Have you discussed sleeping pills or sleep aids with your doctor? Maybe you need something to assist so you get a good nights sleep- which is hard to do for most any AP sufferer.

Just a thought-

Thanks for responding. Last night i took a half of Ambien and slept for 4 hrs (having anxiety waiting for it to work). Then after 4 hrs took the other half and slept 2 more. Went to the doctor today and she perscribed Xanax .025 to take before bed. So i will try that tonight. Never needing any help in sleeping before this is a hard thing for me to swallow. But I guess this is what anxiety is all about.

Take care,

Sunshine
