Emotion freedom technique (EFT) for anxiety

I recently discovered the emotional freedom technique (tapping of meridan points accu-points) to try to rid myself of the tension in my body, as my anxiety has caused some very odd symptoms, one is like a volcanic build up of energy especially in the morning, where I flinch and end up nearly hopping out of bed then my throat closes up, very weird like tourettes syndrome lol...anyway...
I thought im going to try this EFT, ive seen a few videos on youtube so I thought I would have a go, still skeptical, I visited my hypnotherapist and she swears by it, even does sessions using it, so I persisted with it and I even went to Borders and bought a book about it. Its so easy to learn too.
Anyway, I followed all the instructions and tapped 3 times a day.
My anxiety symptoms dropped off completely. I addressed the phobia I have and im eating really well now, where before I wasnt really eating at all. It stopped my palms from sweating, got rid of a headache. Im still working on a few other things that seem to be buried deep in my subconcious, especially the nervous tension first thing in the morning.
Has anyone else had a go at EFT and what are your experiences?

Wow right about now I'm willing to try almost anything. :) this sounds interesting and I'm going to look into this because right now I'm trying to find ways other than meds to help my anxiety. You said you found a book on this technique could you tell me the name of it I'm really interested.Anyway, I wish you much success in this battle with anxiety I know how rough it can be.
This too shall pass...

I have recently had two treatments by an EFT specialist and it has unblocked some problem areas that are sure to help in my recovery of chronic pain. Very emotional sessions and touching deep into your soul. I never knew that I had these problems. It was all in my subconscious. Glad I did it. I have probably been set free!!! Go for it.

Hi nellebutter, sorry your suffering too. I withdrew my meds as they were making it worse. I prefer to use a more natural option. The book I got is 'emotional healing in minutes' by Valerie and Paul Lynch, just do a search in amazon. There are plenty of books about it, but if you want a try, just go to youtube ~

I am always keen to find practical ways to help my clients heal and grow, and often it is the very questions that clients raise that prompt me to seek out new approaches or solutions. This was certainly the case with my discovery of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). One particular client had asked how her partner, who was an otherwise very successful businessman, could overcome his anxieties about public speaking. It’s not an illness or a disability, and yet can be very limiting. We can understand rationally WHY we have a certain problem, and whilst understanding can be very useful, it does not necessarily lead to resolution of the problem.

EFT is a highly unconventional method and yet it is completely safe, being based on balancing the natural flow of the body’s energy system. Sometimes the technique works incredibly fast, sometimes it requires persistence.

Hi acidgirl!

I have been doing the EFT tapping for a few weeks now. My anxiety symptoms have not gone away completely, but the tapping has helped me when I could feel that I was getting panicky. I subscribed to an EFT newsletter, and reading all of the success stories of how tapping is used to combat most any phobia or ailment is amazing! I am hoping it will work for me with my public speaking phobia. That's my next hurdle!

I should say that along with the EFT, I'm also doing counseling, reading a self-help book, and began taking Effexor. I think a combination of all of that and the online support I've gotten has helped me tremedously this past month!

I would definitely recommend the EFT to anyone who has an open mind! :)
