Felt faint, sweaty, shaky, like I'd pass out...what could this be?

I'm posting here b/c I know it sounds like panic and there's no "General" forum (which there should be, hint hint)..but I started to menstruate last night, and I've recently never really feel anything but tired (if that helps any).
This happened at a grocery store. Beforehand, in the car, my leg muscles felt tight; and a bit prior to that, I felt chills and my feet felt cold--at home, all for seemingly no reason.
I haven't changed my meds so I don't think that's it. I've never passed out due to my period before; I have had this when panicking but I don't think I was; I was a bit worried about the muscle tightness and weird chills and stuff. I only started feeling panicky when I walked in the store and kept sweating and like I would pass out.
In highschool, there was a time, in CPR class, where almost every class, my blood would go to my knees and I'd feel like fainting. I wasn't worried about the class but it always happened and I'd go to the nurse and go home.
Could this be something physical? I also have felt similar when I'm in immense pain. confused sad

Im sorry that i cant be more helpful, but this is something you really should see a doctor about. I hope you can get an appointment soon and get some answers. your symptoms sound alot like anxiety. Has anything major changed in your life recently?

All the best

Well I would but I was just at the doc for something else last week (for coughing up stuff from my lungs every morning.) I feel like they'll think I'm weird. Or just brush it off as anxiety. And, no matter what caused it, being anxious as I am, I'm afraid it will happen again and I have no idea what to do.
When I got home I took my blood pressure and sugar (my mom is diabetic) and both were normal. But I had some juice at the store and a cookie. And I took the readings about 45 min later. Would this matter? Or if those readings WERE low at the store, would they still be low when I got home?
I also took an iron pill.

do you suffer from health anxiety? i doubt the juice and cookie would affect how you felt, can you think of something that triggered the feeling? do you normally get more anxious during your period? i dont, but i know many women do. and dont feel bad bout going back to the doctor- its their job to answer your questions. they wont think you are "just anxious" if they are a good doctor.

remember if you are taking iron regularly that it can constipate you, and that feeling can also lead to anxiety.

sorry i cant be of more help-

Well I can say some times I get a "sugar" rush. I'll feel very weak faint and just plan blah for about 10-15 minutes. Usually comes on after I eat something sweet like cookies, cake, etc. But it doesn't happen all the time. Its kinda weird.
I got so "out of it" once after a piece of cake that I had to pull over and grab something else to eat to counter it. Lucky my mom was with me when this happened and went in to the store and brought me a burrito. a few minutes after eatting it I was fine and was able to drive home.
My brother, mom, and myself have these episodes every so often.

I do get light headed, shaky, cold sweats, faint, dizzy, and weak when these come on. And they are not fun! But they go away as soon as I eat something non sweet. Things like cereal, chips, etc don't effect it. But I can't have pancakes with syrup on them without having eggs, or bacon to counter the sugar.

But all in all it does sound like anxiety. I get those same feelings when I walk into wal-mart. Oh my gosh I hate that place. I get all yucky feeling. So I avoid that place as much as possible. It has happened for many many years. And now I send hubby with a list. Its just not worth it to me.
I get this feeling when I walk into places without big windows or places that have poor lighting and use florescent lights without natural light sources.

Do go visit the doc. He might be able to pin point the cause if it is something other then anxiety. And you can get reassured and feel a little more at ease the next time it happens.

Take care
Cary-Ann

Hello and IMHO it does sound like you have anxiety issues going on.  You were just at the Doctors re another issue and now this has happened.  Do not be afraid to revisit your physician and if it is indeed anxiety then talk with your Doc about how to deal with the anxiety.

As far as blood sugar, if you drank juice and ate a cookie your blood sugar  most definitely would have changed if you were hypoglycemic.

Please do consider scheduling a new appointment with your physician.

Kindly,
Kitt

Sometimes during or the week before my period I feel sick and light headed. I think it has to do with hormone levels and then anxiety kicking in to make it worse.

I think you should be checked out by the doc just to make sure. See if you could be anemic. Also, like someone else mentioned, not eating for awhile can cause those symptoms of feeling faint and dizzy/lightheaded.

Sometimes with panic attacks I feel like fainting, I get hot all over, it's awful. It could be anxiety. But make an appt. just to be sure.

Thanks guys. I've never felt this way on my period before...and I usually don't take extra iron--I take a multi that has a little iron in it but I took an extra iron pill this time just in case.
And nothing about the store bothered me. I've been there many times (Trader Joe's). But like I said, on the way there, my muscles in my legs were tight for no reason.

I've posted in other threads about some other crap I have now (head feels full, sound light sensitivity--put on Seroquel and Gabapentin--low doses--ENT thinks its Eustachian tube dysfunction or my TMJ...but nothing has helped that. My stomach is bloated all the time...think it MIGHT be the extra meds I'm on but I don't know. And like I said, coughing up crap from my lungs and its a little hard to breathe). I think that (the breathing issue) may be from the bloating.

So then I get this and i feel like a wreck. No idea what's causing the faint feelings and dread going in my car to go somewhere now. I had an interview today and it was mostly fine but near the end and on the way home, my legs felt weird again--tight--hard to explain; I was shaky but not faint; my head just felt--strange. And I don't think I have health anxiety.
I do have panic and depression diagnosed when I was 13 (I'm 32). But this specifically never happened.

You know Iron is very hard on your gastrointestinal system. This could have caused some of your problems. As for feeling like that on your period, as you get older things tend to get harder during our menstrual cycle. You clot more, I know my PMS symptoms got way worse. I was either very emotional or very rage like. So your cycle could cause those types of symptoms. And my anxiety levels during that time were thru the roof. Hopefully you get this figured out.

Sometimes I feel kinda light headed and like I'm going to pass out when I have a panic attack.  Or I'll feel that way and that will put me in a panic attack.  But usually for me, its anxiety that I just kinda live with everyday, and it has built and caused some strange symptom.  Then I usually panic about the symptom.  Or symptoms.

I think it sounds like anxiety.  I can remember having all of those feelings before and it turned out to be anxiety.  But if it persists, I would take the wonderful advice everyone has given, and I'd make a doctor's apt.  Just to be sure.  Like Kitt said, dont be embarrassed or anything about going back to your doc soon after another apt.  Things come up.  Docs are used to it.

I can get shaky if I dont eat good sometimes.  Or if I get dehydrated.  Then sometimes I'm just overloaded with anxiety, and sometimes dont see how overloaded I am until I have these symptoms.  Then I start to panic.  Isnt that something?  Or anxiety symptoms cause us to worry and then panic, then the panic causes the anxiety symptoms.  Its a vicious cycle!

Also, anxiety can cause so many darn body symptoms!  Things that sometimes you'd never think could be anxiety!

You are not alone!  I think you'll be fine.  Deep breaths!

I have a dr apt for another thing (check up for something else) so I'll ask then. Occasionally, I get a bit dizzy out of nowhere. I felt a bit lightheaded yesterday out of nowhere. And of course now I'm worrying about it.
I don't know if my meds or my Eustachian tube dysfunction could be causing it...but if so, it's out of nowhere b/c I've been on/had that for a while.

Thank you for the replies.
I've been feeling more dizzy and just "off" ...went to the ENT and he thinks it's either allergies or inner ear. I'd either have to have an allergy test done (which I did when I was a kid and I had lots of allergies) or go to a Balance specialist. The MRI I had turned out normal. I suggested getting the Rx mouth guard for my head problems (white noise I always hear, fullness) and he said to go ahead but he doen'st think it will help w/the dizziness. I know this part is not my anxiety...something is up w/my head.
So I'll have to bite the bullet and spend the grand or so for these tests and mouth guard.. I have some savings (tho no job or insurance).

Good Morning

I am sorry to hear you are still having the problems with the dizziness.

Inner ear problems can be diagnosed on the basis of hearing test, Electronystagmography (ENG), ECOG, Posturography or Platform test, the Rotary Chair test and imaging tests such as X-ray, CT scan and MRI scan.

I would hope that you could start with the least expensive test.

I may have mentioned this before but Antivert works well for me when I am dizzy.  I have an inner ear problem that I have had for years.  Sometime it kicks in and I feel dizzy.  We even tried a PE tube which eventually fell out. You could ask your physician for prescription strength Antivert.  Just my 2 cents worth this morning.

Hope you are soon feeling better.

Gentle Hugs

Kitt

Well I have had an hearing test, an ear pressure test, another one where they play these loud sounds in your ears, All those were normal.
I decided to get the night guard and pay monthly. If the allergy test says I have allergies (which I know I do) what could be done? I've been on every allergy med there is.
I have this fear that they won't be able to find anything, as usual. But I am NOT living with this.
