Hello
Im 28 years old, after the birth of my son that is nine months now I have being in a battle to try to understand what is going on with my body.
I had some anxiety attacks before in my life with hart racing, my hole body shaking for hours but happened only a few times about 5 years ago.
about 5 months ago i started having muscle spasms in my fingers that moves from finger to finger, also have tremor, one finger shakes for a second and stops ,mostly my right index when i m using a mouse, i have twitches all over sometimes, mostly my face around my lips and forearms that cause my fingers to move, i also have a lot of pain in my forearms, elbows, fingers, feet and legs, specially after driving, carrying things, cooking what also increases the finger spasms.
I had an EMG that was normal, I have being waiting for a mri since may.
I m freaking out, afraid that it is some serious condition like ms, parkinsons, lupus, lyme
My doctor thinks it is anxiety but she didnt order tests for lupus or lyme what causes even more anxiety because i cant understand how anxiety would cause this kind of pain in my fingers after I do something.
Please, does anyone have these kind of pains and twitches??
Can anyone help me understand how anxiety would cause all these because my doctor just says it is anxiety but nothing else.

When I panic, and sometimes out of the blue, I have muscular twitches, tremors and spasms that I cant control. Its called Distonia, or having a Distonic reaction to something. Im wondering if thats maybe what you are suffering from? Also have you considered that your body chemistry is most likely making changes due to your pregancy and now adjusting again?

Hang in there, hopefully some other members can share their experience also

Thank you,
I m hoping that it is related to my pregnancy and it will go away but it is like instead of getting better it just gets worse, how long would take for my body to go back to normal? It is driving crazy.

Good Morning and welcome to HealingWell. There are many different causes for muscle spasms.

I am wondering if your on any medications?  If so would you like to share what medications you use with us?

Also what is your Doctor doing an MRI for, has she stated what she is looking to rule out as a cause for your spasms?

Please don't fear getting a second opinion. Most Doctors are not going to run tests for every disease without having a history that may point toward that disease.

Each person's body is different and if your hormones are causing anxiety perhaps a visit to your OB/GYN Physician should be considered.

Again a warm welcome to HealingWell.

Hi
I`m not taking any medications right now, I tried Cipralex for a few weeks but it made me gain weight, the twitches started before i took any medication and I still have them, specially my fingers.
I saw a neurologist in June at the hospital emergency and even he said it is probably anxiety he requested a mri to rule out ms I guess.
Yesterday I also started having trouble to focus my eyes could that be anxiety too?
Im really scared that it could be ms, I dont have anyone in my family that has it.

I too think that it is anxiety only, as any symptom can be basically related to it. But even if it is anxiety only, it is not a good thing.
Hang in there, once you are through your pregnancy, things are sure to get better.

You already had words form two experts and still you are not taking them!
Just relax. Even this mentality of not believing so many people who are experts of their field is a symptom of anxiety.

Today I saw another neurologist, I thought I was going to have an mri but I guess I need to wait some more... They don`t even have any idea what happened to the request for mri...
This one said that the symptoms match with ms...by the way I got some new ones since I last posted here like dark spots kinda floating in my eyes and electric shock in my left heel when I bend forward and sometimes when I put my foot on the ground... but he still thinks it could be related to anxiety but needs to exclude ms and then by default it will be anxiety if the mri is ok.
Has anyone experienced this kind of things with anxiety and if so do they ever go away

Hello there,

I do not have any of the sx you have mentioned.  Just wondering if you were aware we have a MS forum........might be a good resource for you to post your sx in that forum.  I know the members there are wise and caring.

Here is the link to the MS Forum.
