Hey all im new here
I am 17 Years Old Male
Never drank/smoked in my life
ive had 2 "major" panic attacks the other ones i talked myself out of
the 1st one i had i was dehaydrated at a baseball game with some of my buddys and i had loads of caffine in me
[3 cups of iced tea and 3 glasses of Dr.Pepper @ red robin]
i am currently on 0.25mg of xanax that i take when i start feeling weird
ive been to the ER twice
had my urine tested EKG and blood test done
everything is fine
but sometimes i dont feel like myself i thought i was my heart cause sometimes i get chest pains and they arent so bad but enough to make me
uncomfortable
my mom told me in could be gas built up which causes it and when i burp after about 20 mins or 30 mins i feel a bit better.
and also when i have chest pains i always fear the worse and i try deep breathing ans ECT it doesnt hurt when i deep breathe
but im scared
these came out of the blue just one day and ive only had 2 but as only being 17 and having these im really scared. sometimes i dont feel like i can be myself anymore.
i used to hang out with my friends all the time with no problems whatsoever.
im just a normal 17 year old trying to live life and have fun. but this is KiLLing me... =[[[
also im a huge gamer =D
if you could help me out in anyway id love it =D
Peace Love and Happiness!

Welcome to HealingWell,

I am sorry to hear you are having anxiety and panic attacks.  It was good to read you are talking with your Mom and also that you have had some medical screening done.

I would strongly encourage you to talk with your physician to see about some one on one counseling.  17 is young to have to deal with anxiety and panic.

I noted you drink a lot of caffeine and also you are a gamer.................to much of anything can lead to anxiety as well as an obession.  Do look at limiting your time playing games and cut back on the caffeine.

Also this is a forum and not like a chat room so sometimes it may be a bit before a member is online to respond to you so bumping your topic is generally not necessary. It was 31 minutes from your first post to your bump :)

We do have chat rooms if you looking to talk live to others you are welcome to use the chat feature.

Again welcome,

Kitt

I wouldn't worry to much about the gaming part =)

I'm an avid world of warcraft player. Been playing since the game released. And play about oh 8 hours a day.

Addiction comes in not having self control or being obsessed.

You have hung out with friends, baseball, things like that. So your ok with the gaming =)

Anyway, caffeine can and will cause anxiety. Keep in mind that the caffeine in soda is different then in tea, caffeine in coffee is different then the others.
Myself I can drink soda all I want. But I can't have tea. Tea is a big NO NO for me. Coffee is ok in moderation.

Exercise is great. The more active you are the less you have to worry about your anxiety. So keep busy. If you start to feel "weird" then take your xanex and distract yourself. Get involved with something that is a metal stimulate. Singing, dancing, chatting with friends, tough homework. Anything that is quick to do.
I'm a singer at heart and turn up the music and just sing my heart out!

Keep an open relationship with your parents. Let them know what they can do when you start to not feel so well. My family members know of my situation. And know to carry on random conversations with me. Or get me started on something to get my mind off of it. The more you dwell the harder it is to over come the situation.

Talk with your doc. Maybe therapy might help some. The sooner you learn how to combat it the better off you are!

I'll be 35 monday. And have delt with this since I was 8. Its just something you learn to live with and understand. Learn your triggers. And what sets you off.

Take Care
Cary-Ann

Glad to hear that you cut out the caffeine. That is a big anxiety causer for me. I get jittery if I have too much and then I start to feel anxious. It's good that you're also eating healthier. Sugar can also make you feel crappy. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Also, remember that just because you are experiencing anxiety right now, does not mean you will necessarily be dealing with it all your life. Some of my friends have had bouts of it and then they were fine. I am not so lucky, but walking and using relaxation techniques help a lot. It's great that you are already recognizing what your feelings are and you are learning how to deal with it now.

Glad to hear that. You know, on the subject of caffeine, it doesn't generally bother me if it's in soda. I've never been a tea drinker and cut out coffee long ago because it just didn't agree with my stomach, so I'm not sure if there's a difference. Looks like caffeine would be caffeine to me no matter what it's in. But there's other stuff in these drinks...

So are your chest pains gone? I agree that it was probably gas. In fact that was almost definitely it since you felt better after you burped. I gather that this isn't uncommon. With my anxiety, most of the time I will get some stomach gas that causes me to be nauseated until I finally start burping. It can get pretty bad...my belly swells up like I'm pregnant. Not a good look for a guy. Anyway if you ever have trouble with this again try some anti-gas meds. You can find this over the counter in pharmacies and groceries. They help by forcing the gas bubbles to coalesce so that they are easier to expel. At least you weren't farting all the time! I suppose it could go that way, too.

I haven't been doing it lately but exercise can also help. If you play ball you're probably getting plenty during the season, but as the winter comes just make sure you get up and walk around every now and then while gaming. Three hours is still a pretty long time to sit still, for sure.

Always good to meet another baseball fan, too. I hope your favorite team's going to be playing in October. Mine blew their shot but will be back next year!

Take care.

Ah, a supporter of the Evil Empire, huh?

As a former player I've always respected the way the Yankees play the game, especially offensively. They are just difficult to get out. And it's not only their high priced superstars, either.

My favorite team has only made the playoffs three times. Each time they faced the Yankees in the first round. The first game, they won. Never again though. And in each of these seasons the Yankees went on to win the whole thing. Can you guess who my favorite team is?
