Just wanted to let all of you know that if I'm not on a lot right now, it is because my grandmother is in the hospital after suffering a series of small strokes. I am working with the medical staff on trying to get her going a little better so hopefully she will be able to come home. It will be difficult with the extra work, but thankfully we have several friends and family that have stepped up to the plate with prayers and help. I sure appreciate any spiritual support right now as my anxiety is definitely up there at this moment. . . I'm just trying to stay positive and keep the faith :)

Thank you so much for listening. . .

Sam sending healing thoughts and prayers your grandma's way. My Mom went thru much the samething and I do realize how stressful it can be. Hopefully they will have great therapists to help her get back to feeling better soon. Family always comes first, so never fret about not being here.

Good Morning Sam,

How is Gma doing today?  You know you have my prayers and support as I do understand how stressful it is to have someone we love and care about hospitalized.

I will ask for prayers for her again today from my prayer group.

Stay strong.

Gentle Hugs,

Kitt

Hello all :)

First off I would like to thank all of you good folks for the support that is so needed. G'ma asked me to relay a message of appreciation to all those that have been praying for her as well.

Today she is doing so much better. She had all of her tests run and they have come back very positive. She is taking some new medication, and the hemiparesis on the right side is wearing down. Her face is not drooping today, and her speech not slurred at all. G'ma can't see very well out of her right eye, and still has trouble putting words together in her mind, but she is not letting that bother her. I have been doing rehabilitation exercises with her, because the doc and staff are so busy, but she is doing really well with all of it. The strength she has in her right side now is very promising though, and hopefully she will get to come home within the next couple of weeks. The doctor does want to keep her a little longer than the norm since she is headed back home, which I greatly appreciate, and even though she does not like it right now, I'm sure she will be grateful as soon as she crawls back into her own comfy bed.

I am just thanking God that she is still with us, and that I have the nursing experience necessary to properly take care of her. I am setting things up right now for any and all home health care she needs, so we will see and I will definitely keep you all informed. Again, thank you so much. I am touched very profoundly and deeply my friends.

{{{{{Nanners, Lyn, Maz & Kitt}}}}} You all are the best :)

Good Evening Sam,

I am so glad to hear of Gma's progress.  Tell her I am cheering her on.  The two of you are so luck to have each other and knowing that you can care for her is wonderful.

Tell her to keep on doing those jumping jacks that your practicing with her and she will soon be back home where she rules as queen of the home from her favorite chair. :-)

Lots of prayers and hugs.

Kitt

Hey Sam,

Glad to hear she is improving. If I may make a suggestion, make sure you keep her moving as much as possible or you could run into problems. My niece babied my Mom alot and did not make her do the necessary exercise to rebuild her arms/legs etc. and she eventually became bedridden. Keep her doing a little walking a few times a day. I am sure you will do this, but I just wanted to let you know of our problems when the PT was not kept up. Will continue to keep her in my prayers.

Hugs

Hey,

G'ma is back home as of yesterday afternoon and we have been busy setting everything up so she is comfortable and can get all of the rest she needs. She is very happy to be in her own bed, and has asked me to thank everyone that stood behind her with support and prayers. I can't thank you enough myself :)

Her vitals are staying good and I've had to work the post-stroke therapy on her, because the doc said I am doing excellent with it. I still am going to hound him next week on getting a specialist in to give me some extra pointers and maybe help a few times a week. The weakness on her right side is about cleared up, even though she is still very exhausted from the ordeal and med change. That is very good advice Nanners, because part of my would love to wait on her hand and foot, but I am determined to get her back to herself as much as possible :) Kitt, thank you for your undying support, and I promise to try a few jumping jacks. . . G'ma is going to laugh when I tell her that :) Lyn, your prayers mean so much to us and we can't thank you enough. Take care my friend :)

I will be on and off now that I have a routine going. Wednesday I might not be on because of grandma's first follow up appt., but I promise to be around to help out all of you that work so hard to keep our A/P Forum going. I sure appreciate that from each one of you. Your time is very valuable to me as well :)

Dear Sam,

It does my heart good to hear that Gma is home and that the jumping jacks are now on your list of to do exercises with her.  turn

I know Gma will do well with a schedule of passive and active range of motion exercises.  Having you work with her is a blessing for her and will give you shared time together too. I know you will be watching some television too.  :-)

I hope her physician will find a Home Health Physical Therapist to come in and help with her needs.

Is she having any memory or speech problems?

As for you, I know you will be here when you are able to but first you take care of you and Gma and I will continue my prayers for both of you daily.

Peace has you covered too.

Gentle Hugs

Kitt

Hey Kitt and Everyone,

Gma is much, much better since last night. She is not having such difficulties stringing words together, was talking about everything as usual, and even asking questions about what happened, so we are thankful and grateful to God and everyone today :) It really seems like a routine morning this Sunday, and we are definitely observing a day of rest, lol.

Tomorrow I am going to try to catch the doc or one of his staff and get her a Home Health Physical Therapist. I'm really thinking and praying that overall things will continue to get better.

I'll be on and off today to help out with the board. Always available by email for anyone here :)

Sam

So glad to hear she is doing better and I am sure as she gets her speech back she has a lot she has been saving up to say...............we women are like that you know.  devil

I am glad to hear you are resting and hope that each day Gma keeps on getting better.

You are so lucky to have a grandmother and I know you love her dearly.  What a wonderful relationship.  :-) I do miss not having anyone like that in my life.

Hugs

Kitt

Sam,

That's such good news that your grandmother is home and recovering so well. Bless you for helping her out so marvellously, and taking such good care of her so that she bounces back as high as possible.

Gentle hugs for you; take care of Gma, but take care of yourself too, my friend!

Love and hugs,
percycat
