Hi, Kitt!
You asked me to post a poem and so I decided to write one about what I'm dealing with right now. For those who don't know, I'm grieving my dearest friend's moving away and I don't know if he'll ever move back. He's been an inspiration to me and I love him like the brother I never had. He's been here for me since I met him and is the most unselfish person I know! If you'd asked me before this happened if someone moving away could affect one so deeply, almost like death, I would've thought it a ridiculous question! Of course NOT!.....I'd been dead wrong though! So life has taught me yet another hard lesson!
Anyway, here's my poem that I call:
The Long Goodbye
You smiled at me one day
Asked me how I was
Immediately I knew
You were one to trust.

Too many people
Never really care
But I knew you did
From the moment you were there.

It's seldom the thing
To show such compassion
Yet you never worried
about time or fashion.

When the night was dark
You gave me a light
When I was afraid
You said it would be alright.

Your presence I felt
Even when you were gone
All was okay
For you always came home.

Then came the news
That you couldn't stay
My friend was leaving
I knelt to pray.

Keep him and his safe
On this journey they take
Please bless them well
For your own Name's sake.

With tears in my eyes
I told you goodbye
I listened in wonder
For you also did cry.

'Though now you are gone
I can't face the fact
So I'll keep saying "goodbye"
Until you come back.

Good Morning Janetlee,

Absolutely brought tears to my eyes.  I am so glad you have your poetry as it is a wonderful way for you to get your thoughts and feelings down in writing. You have such great talent when it comes to writing poetry and I believe that you are blessed with this gift.

I am wodering if you have shared this wonderful poem with your dear friend?

Also is there any chance you will be able to visit each other ?  Sometimes knowing you will see your friend again helps you get through the grief.

You have my support always and please do know I wish you peace !

Gentle Hugs,

Thanks Kitt. I'm glad you liked my poem...I'm feeling like it needs work, but it will do for now. I couldn't share it with him cuz I don't want him to feel bad about going away. he's gone to do a good thing along with his family and I do wish them well! They are dear people, but he is the special one. I'll just have to cope as I can and time will surely help. I never knew a person could grieve like this over someone moving away!

I understand why you could not share your poem with this friend.  Yes, it is amazing that we never think of grieve except when someone dies but we go through many times in our lives when we lose something/someone we care about and it is grief that we are feeling.

Please be kind to yourself and know I am here to support you.

Gentle Hugs to you and keep on talking with us.
