I was fine till started heart palpaltions then lead to panic . Found out i had hormones were flat line. im taking bi-odenicals with ativan and prozac. I hate this feeling. i want to know if anyone out there is or did go threw this. Im 52 and feel 80. just like that. I started taking 20mg this week of prozac, maybe it will help. I think my bi-odenicals is still to low. I feel i need it. some women dont do anything. Women dont come out and say how they feel on the topic. its like saying i'm so old. i dont care right now. i tell people i am in menopause and feel wacked out. i hate this and want to have my life back. I hate taking meds.help need someone that can help. I keep a blood pressure kit next to me. i have had every xray and seen every type of dr. it makes you feel like your dieing and have some thing.

Did the doctor give you any replacement hormones? I am sorry I don't know what bi-odenicals are. I had a hysterectomy at 36 and am now 52, lucky for me I have been on a synthetic estrogen since, and have not have to many problems. You said your hormones were flat line, I wonder if a hormone replacement would even things out for you.

Good luck!

I don't know what they are to be honest? I am just very comfortable now on the 1mg Estrace and it does the job I need it to. Hope they get your hormones leveled out and your start feeling better.

I wish i didnt worry about it. I had a crying spell this morning. I wish they had a support group for the big change for us.
I heard it takes time for our bodies to ajust. Just like when we had babies and felt low. I am having a hard time with the changes. Wished the prozac would kick in. on 20mg now was on 10mg.

Maybe you need a little something like Xanax to help in the meantime? The SSRI's like Prozac do take about 4-6 weeks to kick in.

Lovedove, I am 50 and started perimenopause in my early 40s. I am now at the menopause point where I usually don't have periods but occassionally do (we are considered tgo be in menopause when we go a year without a period). My big symptom has been depression which if not treated goes into intense uncontrollable anxiety. I have takenantideressants for a while and then tried to get off of them but the anxiethy always comes back. I have now accepted that for a while this is what is going on for me. I take Lexapro with no side effects and it helps me. I don't need Xanax or any other stabilizers. I have recently begun bioidentical hormones. I am finding that I feel better without the hormones however (as if childbirth isn't enough) us ladies can have the peculiar quirk of having incontinence when we lose estrogen. I'll figure that part out but it isn't exactly what I would call a blessing.

( Bioidentical hormones are compounds that have exactly the same chemical and molecular structure as hormones that are produced in the human body. Progesterone as opposed to Progestin which is made from mare urine. Talk to your doctor for more information but be ready for some push back as some doctors don't belive in natural hormones).

I see a naturalpathic doctor. She is great because she is so knowledgable. I was lucky enough to find one that started out as a nurse, then became a nurse practitioner (both in an ob/gyn office) and then became a naturalpath. She integrates western and alternative treatments and has been a true gift. I would look for a naturalpath if you don't already see one. There are many different ways of treating all these symptoms but we need someone that is open to all alternatives. Hang in there, it does get better.

thank you for your thoughts. i am on biodenicals. I have had so many differnt componds of it. I satrted out with cd/biest/prog/test 0.25/25/0.25 then that wasnt good to low so my dr. told me to pump 1mg 2 times a day. still wasnt good enough. She
then put me on 1mg of prog100/1mg test with using estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps aday. i dint want to have that stuff, but she thought i wasnt getting enough estr. in my system. did that for awhile. my breast got big and hurt. and gain weight. I have my blood work done every 6 weeks. so that dr. was gone out for surgery, so i saw another dr. in the same office. i told her i wanted to put everything back in one pump again. she said ok, but we are going to start low. sure enough i felt me feel terrible. i was coming down slow . now im at cd/biest/prog/test 0.5/50/0.15mg apply 0.5ml one pump twice daily. i no it isnt enough. my blood work came back. estogene. 37 prog was 1.24 and test was 27.0.doesnt that seem low. at one time i was at est. 120. so i am getting a new script. not much higher. what do you take for your compond. i dont get hot flashes. just cry and feel depressed. confused

LoveDove, I don't take the bioidents for much. I use Vagefem for the incontinence thing. I use a progesterone cream to keep things steady while my body goes through a natural process. I had times when I would go for months with no period and then went through several months of extremely painful breasts and was wet in every conceivable way all the time. I also had occassional heart palpitations.  That is why I am taking hormones. I have never had flashes or any of the other menopausal issues except anxiety leading to depression. I take Lexapro for the depression. My doctor (naturalpathic) and I have been working on this for several years and have come to the conclusion that I just have naturally low levels of Saratonin as I have had other bouts with depression earlier in my life when there was nothing wrong. I would rather take something everyday and be steady than be cyclical with the anxiety coming and going.
