im worried,again... :( i have this tight odd feeling over the left side of my upper chest.it also seems like i cant get a good breath in.

let me give you a little background. ive gone to the er (about 4 months ago for this feeling) ,my general doc (over a year ago for palpitations) and got referred to a heart specialist for the palpitations. the heart specialist ran a bunch of test.some where blood, another he did an ekg ?? and also did a sonogram (forgot the real name) of my heart. everything came back normal except i had a low b12 but that has since gone back up.

the er visit i had awhile back i went in for the same feeling plus i was getting dizzy and my left arm hurt.(i still get dizzy). they did an ekg (all the electrodes on my chest) and did some blood work and took a chest x ray. all the test came back with no signs of problems. my chest xray showed what the doc think is causing the pain. back in 2001 i broke my 5th thoracic vertebrae, i also broke one of my ribs on my left side. he thinks i damaged some nerves in that area and thats whats causing the pain. my left shoulder also cracks alot and thinks that is damaged in some way. all this coming together for the pain i have.

im still getting it and i freaked out its my heart. any tips ?

i have panic disorder ,ocd and anxiety. and iam on meds for all of that.

Well I didnt break anything but I DO know how you are feeling with the symptoms you described! If you've been to the doc about this and he/she says your fine then its probably just anxiety. I know I get the chest tightness and at those times I swear nobody has ever felt the samee way! Like for some reason I'm different. I have had my heart checked so much! ER and doc office and heart specialist. But nothing is wrong. Just that ol anxiety rearing its ugly head. Its hard to think of it that way sometimes. Severe health anxiety does that! Makes it hard to think rational about our bodies. I mean, chest tightness with dizziness and left arm hurting, thats scary! I get all of those! And often at the same time! Its hard not to worry! But I've been told that I'm ok its just anxiety. Hard to believe but after years of it, I'm starting to.
If this s still bothering you, go back to the doc. Ask if its anything you should worry about. Or you could just call if you've been recently. You could leave a message with the nurse asking him/her to ask the doc if he/she thinks there is anything to worry about reguarding this. They should get back to you and maybe ease your mind a bit.
But I have these same symptoms and have for years! Its not as bad as it used to be bc I stopped being so afraid of it. It still happens tho. And when it does, it takes me a while to get back to calm and rational thinking. You are not alone! These symptoms are common.
Feel better soon!

Anxiety Symptoms, Anxiety Attack Symptoms (Panic Attack Symptoms), Symptoms of Anxiety:

Above is a list of anxiety symptoms. Sounds to me that if all the tests have been ran and they are all normal then more than likely its just anxiety. Good luck!

If anybody have the chance to get a brainstate treatment through a specialist..that is very helpful for anxiety! You can google it and find a place in your town!

Hi, it is not a test, it is a treatment..but before they start with the treatment they do a test, yes. It is a very wonderful working technology. You can't get it at any normal doc, they are specialist's, on the website you find their addresses. Good luck

Thank you for your understanding of this edit.

I've had some tightness in my chest recently, especially today. There are times when my anxiety gets the best of me and I think it's something else, but when I break it down I know it's a combination of three things:

A cold front came through the other day and that's when it started.
I smoke.
I've been having some problems with acid reflux and in spite of that I haven't been careful enough about what I eat.

So it can be lots of things including just plain old anxiety. I mean it's winter so chest congestion is probable, and probably everyone gets heartburn sometimes. Combine those two things with anxiety and it can get to you. It sounds like you've had a pretty good cardio workup, though. If the doc says that's fine I'd be inclined to believe him or her.

well its been what ? almost 2 weeks since i started this post. i still have this feeling.everyday it seems like. i mean i have it rite now as i type. odd type feeling in my chest , loss of breath, dizzy and pain in center of back and in left arm. also with this i notice my back and neck cracking alot and my left shoulder socket is popping and cracking.

i keep telling myself that the trips to the er in the past where the doc told me the pain was caused by skeletal issues is the cause now but im still freaking out.

it seems with me if its not one health problem im worried about its another.

I have been getting the same exact symptom. I feel as though I can not take a deep breath! Like something is pushing up from my stomach and interfering with my ability to breathe. So I try and take in DEEP breaths...and straighten up my posture(which is VERY poor all the time). Sometimes this leads to excessive yawning as well. I know it is scary...but since you have had all the heart testing...that should be a little reassurance that what you are experiencing is most likely not of a serious health nature.

Diagnosis: Generalized Anxiety/Panic Disorder with underlying Depression. Not currently on any medication. Perfer to try and use natural healing as a way to control these disorders. Do have prescriptions for Zoloft and Klonopin( just in case I become brave enough to try them). :)

I am sorry you are still experiencing this sensation and if you feel it is physical in nature and not your anxiety do make an appointment with your physician at your clinic.

One of the best remedies for anxiety is to talk about it. Here's where good friends and family can come in. The old adage "A problem shared is a problem halved" Feel comfortable coming here and talking about your issues as much as you like. Someone will always read and members will answer.

Over the holiday it may be a bit slower but one never can predict so keep on talking with us.

thanks every one. still having pain but the anxiety is down a bit. i totally forgot to add in some info that might be the cause of some of my problems. my doc changed when i take my klonopin. i was taking one pill in the morning and one at night. he had me stop doing that and take it all at night ,before bed. to help me fall asleep.

now that i think about and done some reading i hope i heard him rite and dont have klonopin mixed up and i was supposed to take one of my other med all at night.. klonopin side effects are some of the problems i am having..
