I've always been a good eater. I recently quit smoking (a month ago) and am now suffering from anxiety. I have been taking about 1/2 a Xanax pill a day (never more than 1 pill a day).

about a week ago, I noticed that I had no appetite. I'm still trying to eat so I don't get sick, but I'm never "hungry".

Is this pretty "normal" with anxiety? Is this stress from not smoking? From the Xanax? A combination. I feel pretty good otherwise.

I should not that my anxiety seems to be health related, as I'm scared of how my body feels all the time (little nothing aches, etc make me freak out).

Thanks!

Wow.  I quit smoking 10 months ago and gained 25 lbs.  And I also got anxiety from it as well.  GP says smoking was my crutch for dealing with stress and now that it's gone I'm having anxiety.  I'm on .5mg xanax 4 times a day.

Just went to the doctor today. He told me that believe it or not, 1/2 of all smokers that quit actually LOSE weight, and the others gain. It's just how you deal with it individually. I've been thin my entire life, and have hovered around the same weight.

Same with me about the stress. Smoking was the crutch, and now that I've kicked it out, anxiety is how it's coming out. He put me on Paxil and told me to keep using the Xanax as needed...

By the way, how has taking the xanax on a regular schedule been? Like I said, I just take it as needed...

I am having a very hard time sleeping through the night ever since the anxiety started. I was taking xanax to sleep but I heard you shouldnt do that. Anyone have this problem? Any solutions?

A lot of times I forget a dose and only get 3.  But they really work wonders when I have to go out of the house to the grocery store, birthday parties, school functions.  Before the xanax I was only good for 2 hrs on the dot.  After that I started freaking out to go back home.  Now I do very well.  Not normal by any means but it has made me function around people more normally.

The downside though is the addiction and tolerance build up.  I know if I don't take a dose within 12 hrs of each other I get sick.  I started out at .25mg 3x daily.  Now I'm at .5mg 4x.  I'm hoping I can maintain that.
Rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder (and about a dozen other things)
300mg Lamictal
90mg Pamalor
60mg Prevacid
2mg Niravam (Xanax)
