As most of you have mentioned, at some point, we've all had trouble staying asleep. I know that for the past week, I've fallen asleep right at 11pm or so, only to wake up wide awake at 3am just to lay there and let my mind race...Then I wind up falling back to sleep at 4am for about 15mins, then 5:30 - you get the drift - It happens to all of us it seems...This happens to my parents ALL THE TIME (and many other people I know) - the difference is, they don't get anxiety and obsess over it like we all do here...Seems like it's the same as any anxiety - we get afraid it'll happen then WHAM - self fulfilling prophecy. I know I actually get mad cause I wake up (which I'm sure doesn't help). I personally have never had a sleep problem until now...I need my cycle reset it seems...

So I'd like to know what some of you have found to be the best advice to get back to sleep.

It seems like lying there just isn't cutting it for any of us from what I've read. Is it better to just get up and move to a different room? Many of you have said a warm glass of milk...music, etc? I've even heard to not try and fight it - just get up, read a little, watch TV, etc. and let your body dose off...

I REALLY don't want to take a Xanax in the middle of the night, and at least for me - these aren't "bad" attacks where I'd think I'd even need one - just more that I'm awake and my mind is racing and can't get back to sleep...Of course then we're so tired during the day, we want a cat nap, but that just makes the cycle worse (at least for me)...

Any advice? - Seems like we could all use it...

Rick

I use the essential oils lavendar also but just rub the oil on my temples and massage it in. I find it very relaxing. I also like the orange aroma therapy. I would recommend the oils if you are a person that likes scents.
