I bleed (through my anus) if I have an anxiety attack or eat something very bad for me like chillies. For the last two times I have been able to get my Chrohns under control with extra meds or is that the placebo effect?

I am not sure if its the small internal hemmies I have or if it is the Chrohns Colitis but always fear the worst.

I definitely need to have something on hand I can take when I get really anxious rather than a regular anxiety med because doctors don't think I need anxiety meds.

The issues I have is addiction/reliance on the meds and the insurance/labelling issues around being on depression medication!

Maybe a mild anxiety med is the answer? Any advice?

Diagnosis Oct 07: Mild Crohn's Colitis. By the grace of God currently in remission. Current Medication: 1000mg Pentasa Tablets x 2 a day. VSL#3. Manuka Honey.

Hey there sorry to hear you are having issues with anxiety. One med that may work for you is Buspar.

Buspirone (Buspar) is indicated for the management of anxiety disorders or for the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety. Buspirone is especially effective in persons with generalized anxiety of a limited or moderate degree.
To the best of my knowledge Buspar is non addictive, while the benzodiazipines are addicting.

I use Buspar and it works well for me. This is a med that may take up to two - three weeks before you feel the full therapeutic effect.

Good luck and Happy Holidays,
Kitt

Hey London,

Its me Gail*Nanners* from the Crohns forum. I also co-mod on this forum. I have responded to you on the Crohns forum. I tell you anxiety causes me to have the exact same symptoms. I kept thinking I was having these mini flares, turns out it was anxiety all along.

Gail you're a superstar, I have just emailed my GP and told him I need Librax as a one size fits all anxiety/IBS/Ulcer/Intestine medication. I think it is addictive though.
