I am a new member and have severe anxiety disorder!! This holiday has been an absolute nightmare for me! Not to mention it's always affecting me. I have tried different meds and nothing works. Now I have become agoraphobic. No one can understand how you become this way. I don't even know. "Normal" people can't understnd this. I feel all alone!!cry  I come from a family (ruled by my mother) that "there is no problems in the family". You're not allowed to discuss any problems. Besides anxiety and agoraphobia(which is somewhat new) I also suffer from depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel. My mother has told me she does not want to hear about these problems or even try to learn or understand them. I literally have NO ONE to talk to about my problems. There are days when I REALLY need someone!! I'm praying someone can help me!

Hello and I am sorry you are having such a hard time. You have several different dx that would cause you to have anxiety. I am wondering if you are on medications or do you see a therapist? I find my therapist is a great person to talk to as well as coming here and talking to the members.

Support groups are a place for people to give and receive both emotional and practical support as well as to exchange information. People with health conditions, as well as their friends and families find support groups to be a valuable resource and get confirmation that their feelings are "normal", educate others, or just let off steam. IMHO joining a support group is joining a family. Welcome to the family here in A & P.

Please do feel comfortable sharing your feelings with us.

Happy Holidays.

HI crazygowing, My goodness you have a lot of problems and then not being able to discuss this with your family, would make that worse. I guess your mother is anxious as well and does not want to hear about problems she feels she cannot handle herself. She may suffer form anxiety as well.

You have a couple of illnesses - such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome that are all related to mood disorders. The reason is that most of your feel good neurotransmitters such as serotonin, derive from food sources. If you have problems of digestion such as irritable bowel syndrome, you are naturally not absorbing all the necessary nutrients for your body to produce these relaxing hormones and neurotransmitters. Thus it may pay to have a look at some natural treatments for these such as:

Irritibale Bowel Syndrome

As to your agoraphobia, this may be due to the excess production of stress hormones such as adrenaline.

This may not be caused by your anxious thoughts so much but rather by your body, to counteract energy starvation in the brain that can cause excess adrenaline production. Agoraphobia is a special kind of anxiety that ca in most cases be treated by the adoption of the Hypoglycemic Diet. It is explained at:

Beating Anxiety

The good news is that most of your problems can be resolved in the hands of a competent Nutritional Doctor and I suggest to discuss this with your doctor.
