Hi again everyone, seems like im becoming a regular whiner. :)

I have been starting to experience new symptoms that worry me. Out of the blue,my heart rate goes from my normal 80bpm to about 130. And i am doing absolutely nothing physical. And this scares the crap out of me.

I went to the hospital with it but they didnt manage to catch it on a EKG because it passed before i got there. They told me i'm fine, but they will arrange a 24hr holter monitor for me in the future. Thank god... anyway

I have heard anxiety and panic can cause tachycardia, and particulary sinus tachycardia, which apparently isnt even dangerous even if your heartbeat is haywire. It just always feels like i am relaxed, then the rapid heart beat starts, and THEN i freak out. So far it has passed in about 15 mins each time by laying down, breathing properly and stimulating the vagal nerve.

Just wish i actually knew if it was sinus, or something dangerous.

Anyway people, do you get tachycardia? I am always reassured if other people have the same problems regarding to anxiety. :) Please share. /hugs

Hello there and yes tachycardia may be a sx of your anxiety. Most people have runs of tachycardia that are benign. If you have a return of the fast heart rate with sx please do see your physician.

If your heart is structurally normal, a short run of sinus tachy won't hurt you. A short run of sinus tachycardia is generally diagnostically insignificant. Many people have sinus tachycardia and are not worried. Psychologically, it's doing some damage and you may want to ask for some professional help overcoming the panic/anxiety.

Take care

Hi ! Sx - symptoms. If you should have shortness of breath, feel faint, or have chest pain you would be having sx that may be from the fast heart rate.

Thanks,

Kitt

Hi there, I feel like I have similar problems with my heart beat and it freaks me out! When I am just laying in bed or watching t.v. my heart beat will speed up for a few beats or a couple seconds and I take a few deep breaths and it stops and goes back to normal. Is this a sign of something serious? I brought it up to my OBGYN and she had a blood test done to check the levels of something(I can't remember the name.. it also started with a T) in my blood. But the test came back normal, is there anything else my doctor could do for this? I'm worried it could be serious and they aren't doing the right tests.
Thanks for reading, hope to hear back soon.

I have just started having these rapid heart beat symptoms as well about 5 days ago. Duration for 5 seconds and my breathing is difficult during that time. Could this be due to lack of exercise and poor diet? I have been eating terribly lately and I haven't been exercising at all. Seems like it would be logical for that. I haven't seen a doctor yet so I am looking for an answer here first to make sure this isn't serious. Any thoughts?

Yes I get it all the time. Certain things do trigger it but I also get it for no reason at all. When I get tachy I sit to where im leaning on my right side..sip on water..deep slow breaths..may even splash cold water on your face. I know its scary but when it happens just try to think that your heart can pound at a high rate for days without causing any real damage. So it happening for a few minutes or even hour or so is fine. Just try to relax when u feel it. Also try taking magnesium..its good for heart palps! Best of luck
