Okay do I am 18 years old and I would say on average I sleep 9-10 hours a night. Usually I get to bed around 12 or 1, and I wake up between 9 and 11. I have noticed the vast majority of the time 10:00 exactly is when my mind likes to wake up, though. I had mono about 4 years ago, I work almost everyday.. Generally 3 to 6 hour shifts, I'm not physically active(which I'd like to start exercising), and I don't take any medications ever. I do have abnormal sleep patterns throughout the months, though. Sometimes I go to sleep really early in the morning (about 3am), and it just fluctuates. But again, on average year around I sleep 9-10 hours whether I did alot that day, or I did nothing. I do tend to wake up at least one time during the night, and alot of times more than that. I also hate going to sleep because I have vivid dreams always, and almost always have nightmares. The past few nights they haven't been as vivid or scary, but that's not normal for me. Okay, lastly during the day I usually feel alright. I wake up kinda refreshed but not as much as I would like. I generally start to get sleepy aroud 9pm even though I sleep till 10am. I just always stay awake till about midnight. Is this normal and healthy, or what? I'd just like some advice please. :)

Much love and god bless

Maybe thats what YOUR body needs. For me personally I sleep 7-8 hours every night. Sometimes when people get depressed they will sleep more. Do you feel you might be depressed?

I personally need 10-12 hours of sleep, so I don't think you're alone. I stay up until 2 or 3AM, but at the latest, I've stayed up until 7AM. And when I don't get at least 10 hours of sleep, I'm usually very lethargic throughout the day unless I only get 5 hours of sleep or less. Kind of confusing, I know, haha. It confuses even me.

Anyway, sending hugs your way. You're not alone in your sleep struggles. God bless you. :-)

On  the weekends I get 9-10 hrs of sleep.  Normal for me.  I get 7-8 on the weekdays because I have to get the kids off to school.  The weekend is my catch up sleep time so to me, you sound very normal.
