I was recently diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I was prescribed Buspar for it. Seems to be doing ok. My question....is head tingling, hand tingling, stress in neck and shoulders all a part of this disorder? It seems that every single thing that happens to me is attributed to anxiety. The hand and head tingly starts occurring around the same time each day...4:30 and continues off and on until I go to bed usually. During the day it is somewhat controlled. I take my med in the morning and at night so I know its not because the medicine is "wearing off". I guess I just need to hear from some that have been dealing with anxiety a little longer than myself. I constantly worry that I have some dreaded disease based on symptoms I have at the time. Run to the computer every time I get an ache or pain to self diagnose. Practically have convinced myself I have multiple sclerosis!! My gosh it is just getting out of hand!! Am I just being ridiculous? That is what my friends and family tell me. Please shed some light on this for me. Thanks :)

Maybe this link will help you, it shows all the symptoms anxiety causes. Good luck!

I have really tried to make a conscious effort to stay off the computer, self-diagnosing myself. It is just driving me crazy. It was just out of control. It's just amazing to me how anxiety just takes control over you! I am especially having a hard time because I have a controlling personality, I like to have everything under control. My doctor says that is why I am not dealing with this very well, because I feel like I cannot control this. He assures me that with practice and my meds I can. We shall see I guess.

Yeah, my husband has threatened to take my computer from me because he says I am making myself sick running to the computer every single time I have an ache or pain.

If you don't know by now Googling every little symptom is a bad idea. You will definetly convince yourself that you havee every deadly disease out there. I have been there and done that and didn't realize until I came here that that was a bad idea. Did u say stopping your meds gives you palpitations? Well I'm not on any meds but I do know how scary and annoying those can be because sometimes I get them all day and sometimes I don't. But just please stay from the internet when you are worrying about any aches and pains of any other strange feelings because it will scare you even more and most of the time its not even your a re suffering from.

i also experienced anxiety/panic attacks when i first heard of my GERD condition. I had my ECG test for four times, results are normal. and i talked to my GI regarding my anxiety prob. Its the result of thinking negative about our health. GERD mimics several conditions but that does not mean its dreaded. I also keep on searching over the net and have self-diagnosis. i even thought of dreaded diseases and i even asked my GI if im gonna die soon because everytime im in a congested area like malls, bars and movie house, I cant breath properly, i always suffered from hyperventilation and its so scary. But the GI said, nothing to worry and the conditions im suffering are all GERD related. I suggest, you talk to a Psychologist for support and free you mind from worries. Pray and self-meditate. Read inspirational books and have a cup of Chamomile tea before bedtime.

Ahhh, what anxiety can do to a person!!!..I have had the chest pains, the tightness, the hard to swallow, the hard to breathe thinking I was suffocating, leg pains, heart palpitations\ skips a beat, tremors, not sleeping, constantly worrying, headaches, name it!!!..It is hard to comprehend, even now, that is was all in my head!!..I worry a lot because I had a deep vein thrombosis in my leg when I was pregnant at 20 years old, and it scared me to death!!!..So now I think every little pain I get is life threatning..They say:"Try to relax, breathe".. blablabla..But it is just so powerful!!..I got some meds and it does help, but I want to be FREE of this, I don't WANT to rely on meds the rest of my life..So frustrating, why can't I control this??..I feel like a weak person..But it's good to know that I am sooo not alone in this, these thoughts..I hope that one day I can get rid of this aweful disease!!..:)

Not only have I experienced the tingling, but also a painful burning sensation that begins mid chest and slowly runs to the top of my head. The first time this happend was a very HORRIFYING experience. I honestly thought I was dying (my first thought was "oh my God, a blood clot") I have been in denial for the past 2 years that my episodes are related to anxiety and my habit of searching the internet to "diagnose" myself has only made matters worse...i've diagnosed myself with every disease from brain tumors to hyperthyroidism to hypoglycemia...If these episodes are nothing more than anxiety, I thank God it's nothing more serious....Im promising myself to stay off the internet for self-diagnosis..Im determined to believe I am simply living with the (thankfully) treatable disorder, anxiety, and not some life threatening disease that I've been making myself belive that I have...Good luck to you, stay off the internet, and  God Bless! wink

Wow, I am feeling a little better reading all these posts. I am new to this board as well and new to the whole anxiety thing. All of these posts echo my thoughts, feelings, and experiences so far with anxiety. The hardest part for me is turning my brain off and not thinking about stuff or negative thoughts, And how hard that is to do. I have been to the computer many times as well and have freaked out at every little thing my body has done in reaction to stress and anxiety. It takes a lot to ignore the computer. I too have had tingling fingers and hands, small sporadic pains in the chest occasionally when trying to take a deep breath, rapid heartbeat, slow heartbeat, and negative thoughts. The thing that trips me out the most is half the time I experience things, it's usually when I'm alone or laying in bed at night trying to fall asleep. My heart will just start beating faster for what appears for no reason. Like I'm not even consciously thinking about anything going on or anything. Falling asleep can tend to suck on these nights. Anyone in the same boat with me there? I'm glad everyone writes here because I fell like some people around me are sick of hearing my thoughts about all this. Anyone have any ideas or things that work for them to relax?? Thanks :-)
