Hello
I just registered couse i'm desperately looking for answer to my problem.
Long story short i was punched unexpectendly in my lower left ribs. I was in much pain but after a couple of minutes all seemed to be ok. I felt pain but it was not severe. No sharp pain and i was able to breathe normally.
Now, after almost four month after i got attacked i still can feel pain just under my ribs and i really have troubles sleeping.
I went to a doctor and had abdomen ultrasound after i expleined what happened to me. Well, after the examination doctor said that ultrasound showed no injuries to internal organs such as spleen, kidneys. My blood test was ok.

Now i don't really know what to do and i am starting to believe that it is the relic pain that i feel now. That this pain was real but now it is in my head only. I know that rib injuries last fo monts sometimes but 4 is really to much time i suppose.

I don't know if i should get ct scan. The pain doesn't increase when i do things it is that dull pain i can feel all the time.

Hope someone can comment on this.

Actually i went to a doctor 3 months after the accident to do ultrasound. I really don't know if i should get ct scan o mri as i have been that they do ct scans or mri only after they find something in ultrasound.

Patrick,

Welcome to HealingWell and please remember I am not a physician, just a peer with anxiety.

It is possibly muscular, traumatic costochondritis you are experiencing and pain from this type of injury could last a long time. However if you feel you should have futher studies please do be your own best advocate and talk with your physician.

I would agree you have some anxiety thrown into the batch as you are obviously worried about the cause of the pain and the length of time that has gone be.

Try to stay in the moment and do follow through with your physician.

Again welcome,

Kitt

When it starts hurting I would suggest putting a warm compress on it. I have Fibromyalgia and Costcondritis and I have found that helps alot. Give it a shot. Good luck!

Thanks for helpful answers. I'm wondering if it is possible that the anxiety and depression are causing that dull pain in the ribs and chest? That's maybe i am all right now physically and the initial injuries pain is gone and he pain i have is now from only from anxiety and depression. I think i could have got little bruise bat the pain after injuries wasn't unbearable.

And i have problems sleeping, sometimes 3-4 hours a night , when i sleep 7 hours thats a success.

I would think you are no doubt hving anxiety along with some depression especially after what happened to you
i really would be talking to a pdoc and perhaps doing some therapy....i wish you all the best
and the compress should help as well
