k does anyone else's heart beat faster when they have stomach virus or fever?

it's so stupid but everytime i get the stomach bug or fever i ask people the same question. why? it's stupid. i have had my doctor and other people tell me yes it's normal because your body is fighting something but today i am sick and this morning it was beating like 110 - makes me anxious - i think most people don't even pay attention to it. i hate that i'm so intune to my body !!!

It is actually good to be intune with your body to a high degree imho
yes i think and again its only my opinion that when you are sick your heart blood pressure will go up
it is fighting something and using the body to do so
again just my thoughts
as well as personal experience with the heart going faster n bp jumping higher

Hazel,

There are a number of ways in which a severe cold or flu, particularly if you are running a fever, can cause a higher blood pressure reading. Anytime you get a fever, your body is working to fight off an infection. Fever raises your temperature, speeds up your heart rate and raises your blood pressure levels. This increased blood pressure is due to "vasoconstriction"-- a narrowing of blood vessels. If you have a fever, a blood pressure exam is likely to show that your blood pressure is elevated.

Try not to overthink the increase in BP/heart rate when your sick. Always feel comfortable in discussing your problems and concerns with your physician. There is no reason for you to feel "stupid". It really is a good question. (((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))
