Hi all.

First thing I should say is, I suffer from anxiety and stress.

I've been having off and on headaches, for actually quite some time. Probably about 4 years. I wake up feeling fine. I'm fine when I get to work. After lunch, and about 5 hours on the computer, I'll start getting a headache usually on one side of the head or the other. I'll take a couple tylenol, lie down when I get home, and I'm fine. This happens 2 or 3 times per week. Of course, I've convinced myself it's something worse.

Last week, I came home one day feeling crappy. Not really dizzy, but just sort of "off-balance". Kind of weak. No throwing up, but I had to go to the bathroom a lot over the next 24 hours. That stomach thing went away, but the feeling of minor dizziness has stayed with me. I got nervous and made appointment with neurologist for tomorrow. I'm totally freaked out. I've lost a lot of my appetite and have been feeling just weak and shaky. Same feeling I got about 15 years ago when I was convinced I had AIDS. confused

Oddly enough, I haven't had any headaches in the past few days. Do these symptoms sound like something that could be caused by stress/anxiety?

Hello,

Welcome to HealingWell and the A & P Forum. I am wondering if you have been dx with migraines as perhaps you could be on a specific head for migraines of which there are a few choices. I feel that seeing a neurologist is a good thing just to get checked out and perhaps get on a medication for the headaches.

It feels to me like you have some concerns re AIDS and this certainly could cause you to feel anxious along with having a daily headaches.

One of the best remedies for anxiety is to talk about it. Here's where good friends and family can come in. The old adage "A problem shared is a problem halved" Coming here and posting your concerns is a positive step in overcoming your anxiety.

Try not to overthink your problems and go to your appointment with an open mind. I notice you cross posted to Migraine headaches and hopefully you will find some members in that forum will have some wisdom to share with you.

I wish you peace,

Kitt

The AIDS thing did a number on me until I finally got tested. I went for over 5 years paranoid every day I might have caught it. Once I tested negative, I got over that. But now I'm freaking out over the neuro visit. I don't think I have migraines as the pain is never debilitating. Only time I ever get nauseated from headaches is when I'm someplace public that allows smoking. The cigarette smokes makes me sick.

I personally think like Stkitt said its good to go and get the testing from the Neuralogist to rule out anything else. But personally the way you are describing how you feel sounds very much like my own anxiety. I get diarrhea, nauseous, headaches and just a pure lack of energy. While I am at work I do fine because I am busy, but once home I start feeling all the symptoms mentioned as I have more time to dwell on it. Good luck with your doc visit and keep us posted on how you are feeling.

I'm fine. Dr. just asked some questions, did some neuro exams, and everything looked OK. She wants me to do a sleep study as she thinks I have sleep apnea.

Good Morning and thanks for posting how your appointment went.

The most common signs and symptoms of obstructive and central sleep apneas include:

* Excessive daytime sleepiness (hypersomnia)

* Loud snoring, which is usually more prominent in obstructive sleep apnea

* Observed episodes of breathing cessation during sleep

* Abrupt awakenings accompanied by shortness of breath, which more likely indicates central sleep apnea

* Awakening with a dry mouth or sore throat

* Morning headache

* Difficulty staying asleep (insomnia)

Just wondering if you have some of these sx?

Hugs to you,

Kitt

I have these to some extent. I get tired during the day time occassionally. My wife tells me I snore very loud. She's also told me she thought I had stopped breathing a couple of times while sleeping. I wake up a lot at night, but I wouldn't classify it as insomnia.
