Figured I'd throw out an introduction while I'm online =P
My name's Che, I'm 20 years old, I live in the lovely (but so darn hot recently!) midwest. I suffer with anxiety and depression. The anxiety started when I was around 13. The depression started when I was 16. I've tried all sorts of different medications and seen all kinds of different doctors, but I quit taking meds cold turkey when I was 16 as well. I have quite the family history with both anxiety and depression so I've always felt like the doctors I've seen focus too too much on my family history and not enough on what I'm actually saying to them. That would be the reason I no longer see doctors or take medication. I just use my support system as often as I need and come on here now, which has really helped. Anywho, more basic information... I attend college, I'll be entering into my Occupational Therapy masters program next summer. In my spare time I write music, sing, read, and write stories. I prefer the creative past times and extra-curriculars, yet I'm a science and psychology major. =P Oh, and I use smiley faces allllllll the time. Helps convey what kind of mood I'm in. Also, just wanted to say I'm extremely thankful that I found this site. Such a great community!

Che,
Support groups are a place for people to give and receive both emotional and practical support as well as to exchange information. People with health conditions, as well as their friends and families find support groups to be a valuable resource and get confirmation that their feelings are "normal", educate others, or just let off steam. IMHO joining a support group is joining a family.

Welcome to the Family.

Welcome to HW nice to meet you.  Anxiety and depression are horrible things to deal with but you can get through it and get it to a level were it is manageble and does not affect your life so much.  This is a great forum and you will meet people here who understand what you are going through and get support and advice, I am pleased you have found this forum so please do keep posting.

Take Care

Ben
