Over three years ago I was chronically tired and pushing myself when I had a major medical dignosis that proved not to be true. It scared the heck out of me and I went into some type of nervous breakdown.

I walk and pace much of the day so tense I could explode, I cant sleep, I have severe burning sensations and hundreds of other miserable sensations. Some days the agitation lets up then I am in bed so sick I feel like I could die - horrible total body sick and many more nerve hell sensations.

I am extremely drug sensitive and everything I have been prescribed made me much worse. I do deep breathing when I can.

Is this anxiety - I don't see others doing this extreme agatation then the switch to sick

Sounds like panic disorder/anxiety, which isn't anything to be afraid of. I think getting to the root of why you're stressed and anxious as there's always a reason, even if seems so subtle. Talk with someone, therapist, doctor, etc. There is help everywhere, don't be afraid to reach out.

Hi Sit2know, Welcome to Healing Well :-)  . Have you ever been to a psychiatrist about these problems? The reason I ask is because you said you've been sensistive to every medication you've tried. I was wondering if it was a general MD or Psychiatrist that prescribed the meds. What were the medications, and what bad effects did you have?

It does sound like an anxiety disorder, but we need more info. Of course, only a doctor can tell you for sure what the problem is, we can only give guesses. I would find a good psychiatrist, if you haven't done so already.

God bless.

I count as personal friends 3 clinical psychologists and a psychiatrist - all old college friends - none have been any help

Hello James,
When you say you have many more nerve hell sensations...what do you mean? What kind of nerve sensations are you experiencing?

Hello James,

Welcome to HealingWell and I am glad to see you have heard from several of our awesome members.

I am wondering if you have been dx with generalized anxiety disorder ? I understand you have 4 friends with degrees but would still promote your making an appointment with a Pyschiatrist as someone that is working for you in an official capacity is different then just asking friends what they think ? Just my 2 cents worth on that topic.

Is this anxiety/  I suspect you certainly are experiencing anxiety second degree to all your physical sx and a wrong dx.

Wondering if you have ever seen a Neurologist for the burning sensations ? Perhaps the burning is from peripheral neuropathy but only a physician can confirm what is going on with the burning and other physical illness.

Please keep on talking with us as it is good to just get your feelings out.

This is the same burning I had coming off benzos 21 years ago- neuropathy occurs in isolated areas, mine moves all the time and ebbs and rises.

I habe been to many doctors and misdiagnosed about as many times

James,

You did not respond to the question - have you been dx with GAD  by a professional ? Also I kindly suggested you see a neurologist.

You had posted "I have severe burning sensations and hundreds of other miserable sensations" Wondering when  you had this 21 years ago, what made it better?

To the best of my knowledge and from what I have read from other people who have anxiety, burning sensations may be caused by Anxiety.

I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder by at least 10 professionals over the years.

Once I got off benzos it took me 3 years to recover and then all the symptms and burning stopped and have not had any for over 20 years until this past 3 years. In fact those 20 plus years I had no anxiety.

Yes I have seen a neurologist and he sent me to a new psychiatrist...again who said anxiety but he had never seen the burning or the severe agatation that keeps me walking and pacing all day

AGAIN i think its quite possible you have p. neuropathy
i would do some research into this and also see another NEURO if it were i
my overload of events ..mom n dad passing..hubby leaving...and other things caused my anxiety to overload on circuts causing my neuropathy
i hv it everywhere too i was just giving example of couple places
not trying to be rude but hoping you do find out what it is
what caused your a/p to come bk after not having it for so long if you dont mind me asking

The last psychiatrist I saw was also a neurologist. He said that peripheral neuropathies don't move around like my burning does. Mine can also totally stop for hours and occurs inside my head, mouth, face and all over my body but it migrates.

I had been at least 20 years with no anxiety. Then in 2006 I was pushing my self hard with athletic workouts, family responsibilities and my own fragile nervous system.

I had to make an urgent trip over 1,000 miles for a sick family member. We were gone 6 weeks and when I got home I was exhausted from the drive, had been having severe dizziness and nausea.  Woke up a week later at 2:00 am with my first panic attack in decades. Also had vertigo - so scared went to doctor that morning and he could find noting wrong so he sent me to an ENT specialist.

He totally misdiagnosed me - scared the crap out of me and I went home to worry. Woke up in middle of the night with every symptom of my old anxiety back plus many of my Xanax withdrawal symptoms. This was 3.5 years ago - for a long time I thought the benzo withdrawal was back after 21 years and that scared the hell out of me - now I think it is a HIGHLY sensitized nervous system but I can't take medications and can’t get it to calm down.

James.

James,

Everyone reacts to anxiety in their own way and as you asked if "is this  anxiety ? " the reponses you recieved were strictly an attempt to support and offer help to you.

I have had anxiety for 28 years and yes I have a dx of GAD along with Major Depression.  However I have learned to accept my anxiety and when it rears it's ugly head I try to accept this as part of who I am and I do see a Psychiatrist and a Therapist.

I am sorry I was not able to offer you better ideas with your problems.  I wish you the best and hope you will come up with answers to your issues.
