Hello all, I am new to the site, I don't seek advise normally, but rather search and figure things out as I go.  (This is how I came across this caring community) I have labels, (don't we all), but I refrain from using them, as I find it boxes a person in, and they are seen as just that label, me, I am complex, and way more than just a label, as we all are.  I have long suspected that there is alot more going on within me, then I am aware off, and this is what brings me to yet another search.

Just wanted to touch base, I don't know if I will just be here to read, or contribute, but either way, I hope you are all well, and coping with what you have on your plate at this moment.

Hi awty. I too hope you find the site helpful whether you contribute or just read. Whatever works best for you...

I know what you mean about labels. I've always believed that we are people first and each person is unique. I may have anxiety but the anxiety is not who I am. I'm careful with my words keeping this in mind. For instance, a person is not "a schizophrenic", they are "a person with schizophrenia". You're a unique, complex person who just happens to have [fill in the blank].

At the same point, I understand that we give diagnoses for a reason which is if all these people before you had the same symptoms that you're having and treatment X worked for them then that might be a good place to start with you. Of course you're an individual and there's no guarantee that what worked for them will work for you, but it's a starting point.

awty,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I have found the support, validation and encouragement that I receive here, to be so helpful and healing. I hope and trust that will be your experience as a member of the HW family.

I wear many hats but I have never liked being labeled.

People are complex, multifaceted, and multidimensional. When we apply labels to them, we put on blinders and see only a narrow view of an expansive and complicated human being.

Please feel safe here in this forum and let us hear from you.

Kindly,

Kitt
