Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well today!  I am on day 11 of lexapro 10mg for anxiety and i "think" that it is helping my anxiety, i think i can see a trend for the better anxiety wise.  But for the last two days i have just felt like crap mentally, really depressed, really didn't want to get out of bed this morning, which i don't feel like i had before i got on the lexapro.  I was wondering if this is something others have gone through while getting on the meds?  I'm really getting sick of being in this "fog" too, have first doc apt on tues of next week too, looking forward to it, any advice?

I have had these same feelings while getting on a medication and have often given up on the med due to the side effects.  However as I have been on so many of the meds I was down to very few choices left so I decided to just stick it out when started on my current med in May.  It took me almost 8 weeks to feel the full effects of my current medication.  It was worth just putting up with the side effects of getting onto this med as it is working.

Thanks for the quick reply, its good to know others have experienced the same. The side effects are starting to go away now, i have been eating more and the nausea is starting to subside. I was able to "perform" last night for the first time in about 3 weeks, its really the first time we've tried in that time whic hwas really nice, in fact i wish i could have last longer lol. Still feel the "fog" which seems to be my general response to anxiety. This morning was really rough but i am feeling better as the day goes on.

Just also wanted to give some input. I started lexapro about 2 and a half years ago and sometimes I'm not very consistent with it. I find that when I start it again (I just did actually, I'm on day 4) I usually feel out of it. I'm a little more zombie-like and feel sort of indifferent emotionally. Sometimes when my mom talks to me she thinks I'm uninterested in what she's saying, but I'm not, I'm just not as engaged as I am usually am. This usually disappears for me in a matter of a few weeks and as stkitt said, the side effects are worth it for me.

Hi Geosojda

Welcome to HW and nice to meet you. I have been on 20mg Lexapro for a while now and have found it to be a good med, Like Kitt I have been on many meds to help with my anxiety and you do need to stick with it as it can take upto 8 to 12 weeks to feel the full effects of these medications and usually most of the side effects lesson by the 3rd or 4th week. I would advise to keep in close contact with your doctor through this period and take there advise, I have also learnt not to rely on the meds to make me better as they are only an aid to reduce your symptoms try and learn ways of controlling your anxiety CBT can help with this. Hope things start to improve for and let us know how you are getting on.

Take care

When I was first given lexapro I didn't feel much of anything until I was 6 weeks into the medication.

I'm now on Buspar and that also took many weeks to kick in.
