I have a script for .5 and I was wondering if anyone takes this every day and how often do you take it? Such as every 6 hours, etc?  Good or bad reactions?  Thanks for the reply...

Hi BerryBlonde81,

If your Dr. prescribed you to take them as needed, then only you can be the judge of how often you should take them.

I currently have a prescription for Klonopin (1mg) to be taken twice a day every 12 hours. However, Klonopin has a half-life of 18-24 hours, so in theory one pill a day should be enough to keep your anxiety at bay.

My anxiety is pretty acute and persistent, so even at 1mg, I barely feel the effects and still, I try not to take it too often (certainly not twice/day!). I did take it as prescribed at the beginning and found that if I missed a dose I would get rebound anxiety and get a strange electric shock feeling.

Everybody is different, but the less you learn to rely on the drug to ease your anxiety, the better (in my opinion, anyway).

Best of Luck,

SnakeCharmer

Thank you so much for the information! I am very fearful of medication and most always will suffer with the extreme anxiety instead of taking the klonopin, pretty dumb I know. Just wanted to take it as needed as perscribed, and I see that it also helps me sleep. I took one before work at 8 am today and will probably take another at 6 pm tonight so that I can have restful sleep instead of being up and tossing turning with anxiety, do you think that would be ok?

Hi Again,

It's not for me to say what would be ok. If you feel you need it, and the dr. prescribed it as such, then it's fine. Just try not to rely on it too much as a sleep aid b/c once your body gets used to it, you'll have trouble relaxing without it. Be cautious and listen to your body, it will tell you what to do.

Regards,

SC

Thanks for the advice, I do prefer to only take it when I am really getting freaked :)

Hey there,
Sometimes it is better to take the medicine before you stress out to much if you feel anxiety coming on rather then trying to put out the fire after the fact.

Snake Charmer adviced you very well.

I was on Klonopin .5 mgs four times a day. Now I'm down to three times a day.

I take one when I wake up, one in the middle of the day around five or six, and then one before bed.

I take the fourth one when I feel extra anxious.

You have to be the judge though. You might only need one or two a day. Klonopin is very strong. I would recommend taking one when you wake up though if you have morning anxiety.

Just my opinion
Diagnosed with: Panic Disorder, anxiety

Medications: Buspar 30 mgs and Klonopin 1-3mgs a day or as needed. Fish oil too!

I have a wonderful fiance, a 2 year old daughter named Mia, and two giant dogs; Buddy and Casey.

Thanks all I did notice that it helped me in the morning, and I actually got a nights sleep if I took it at night so maybe I need to take 2 a day as needed, its always trial and error with meds -- I just want the Cymbalta that I started on to kick in and kick the anxiety's butt so I dont have to take the Klon!! I am going to do my best and give the Cymbalta 8 weeks to see if the full desired effect works on me...
