Hi everyone, well I've been pretty good these last couple of days....but since yesterday I keep feeling like I have a watery mouth and have to keep constantly swallowing....I usually get a dry mouth when I'm anxious so this is unusual for me....

And of course for everyone who doesnt know me I suffer from terrible health anxiety....so you know I'm itching to google...but I won't I promise.... nono

I just need some one anyone to reassure me that they have had this with anxiety....I'm pretty sure it's anxiety...anyway I hope it is....hugs to you all Shannon... scool

Ok did a relaxation tape, did some of my cbt homework from my therapist , I'm pretty sure it's just anxiety so I'm trying not to focus on it....cbt therapy says the more you focus the more you notice something, the more you notice the more you focus...makes sense I suppose.....ok I'm calmer now.......just going to keep busy....especially this mind of mine....hope you are all well....shannon

Hey Shannon, that does happen to me! I go between very dry mouth and then sometimes I keep swallowing and swallowing over and over, I make myself some tea when that happens and I usually feel calmer.

No worries, it does happen :)

Hey Shanny, Good job on resisting the symptom search urge!!! I did some research for you, and excess saliva is not really anything to worry about, and will most likely go away on it's own:)

I could only find one scary reason for it....pregnancy! Lol, let's hope it's not that eh?

It could also be over-active salivary gland backlash due to dry mouth from anxiety...you know, you have dry mouth for awhile, then the pendulum swings the other way as the body tries to balance things out? Makes sense!

I hope this has already cleared up, and rest assured, it's nothing to worry about:)

Hugs,

Hey scaredy cat, no I'm not pregnant....whew......Its not as bad today, I think it's because I fixate on areas of myself when I'm anxious and then just obsess about them....thats how I am.....I had a buzzy hand for a week once, buzzed seriously for a whole week, well I wAs in a frenzy about this hand...lol..and then it just stopped....I'm sure this swallowing thing is anxiety, I am seeing my normal gp today so I will mention it to her.....hugs to younshannon

Saw my gp, she said it's anxiety same as having a dry mouth, and you will crack up over this everyone I'm telling her I have too much spit and my mouth was so dry it felt like sandpaper.....go figure....

She also said that with health anxiety you become hyper vigilant to every twitch, twinge and other things your body does...which makes sense.....it's very true of me, I over analyze even little things....and thanks for the replies everyone.....shannon

Yeah! I am glad that you got an answer from your doc and feel better:) It is so crazy how the physical symptoms can switch on us...from one extreme to another. Is a happy medium too much to ask? I mean c'mon!

Oh well, such is the never-a-dull-moment with anxiety life!;p

Here's to a great day (&weekend) and talk to you soon.

Hi, first time on this! I am going through the same thing I feel like I have this lump in my throat and I constantly need to swallow. I have extreme anxiety. The left side of my neck/ear hurts a little when I swallow. I have Google every kind of cancer you can get in your neck. I am a healthy 38 year old woman. I recently had my blood work done and everything came back beautifully. My Dr's tell me I'm healthy, why can't I just believe them?

Thank you so much. I have to get familiar with this, I've never done the chat thing! :) I will take a look at the self-help resources. I actually see a therapist for my anxiety. It's just nice to know they're people out there that cares and I can come on here anytime day or night. Thank you!
