i have been taking claritin for allergies lately but hasn't done anything.
some days i feel like my throat is tight and i have lots of clear/whitish drainage.  it's weird but it feels like i can feel the air going down the back of my throat and i get anxious.  it's just a weird feeling.  i am not wheezing at all.
allergies are not bad where i live right now but we've been getting lots of rain.  maybe mold?
anyway, this dry mouth/throat feeling is making me so panicky.  anyone else get this?

Hazel, I was experiencing the same thing you are describing a little while back. It felt like while I could feel the air going down my throat, it was giving me a feeling that my throat was SO dry, that it was actually like it was stuck shut or something. But at the same time I had the post nasal drip, if this makes any sense to you. LOL It's kind of hard to describe.

I have allergies to 6 different types of mold spores and dust mites, so I attributed it to that. It went away after a while, but it made me anxious too.

so i'm not crazy then?  lol  it drives me nuts.  then if i worry about it - i think anxiety makes my throat feel even drier.
what do you take for your allergies?  i was giving myself allergy shots for about 5 years up until about 4 months ago.
nothing seems to help much except benadryl or chlortrimeton but they make me sleepy.  actually the chlortrimetron didn't make me sleepy tonight so maybe i can take it at work now.

my poor son who is 5 has horrible allergies right now too.  they told me last week when i took him in that he had to be off of antihistamines for 2 weeks before he got his tests.  ugh  and it's expensive with his ins!  he wouldn't like the shots anyway, so i think i will just get him tested for cats/dogs/the major allergens and wait for shots til he's a little older.  poor thing - he has swollen adenoids and his little nose is always stuffy.  sooo annoying.

Hazlenut,

The feelings that you are experiencing can definitely be related to reflux, particularly LPR. I myself am a sufferer and have a lot of post-nasal drip as well as intermittent throat tightness. However, I find that my throat feels much better when I'm not as stressed. When you say your throat is tight, where do you feel it? Above the adam's apple or below?
Feel Good,

-Faith

Hazel, it could very well be the acid reflux too. I have it also, but I never suspected that to be the cause. ......Things that make you go hmmmmmmm...... LOL!

Hope you're feeling better! Fox

Hazel,

You may want to check in with your Dr. to check and see if you have a sinus infection.  You don't want to go through the holiday weekend feeling nasty.

Happy Thanksgiving to you.
