Hey all, new here.

I've had problems with anxiety since I was 15, I'm 30 now. Recently something that's been happening that never has before is the sensation of my heart flip flopping.
It happens at least 40 - 50 times daily at a guess and it's genuinely freaking me out. They only last between 5 - 10 seconds and starts with this sudden sinking feeling in my chest, while my heart feels like it stops for a a second or two and flip flops, I'm then forced to take a deep breathe like i'm gasping for air which kind of kicks it back into rhythm.

Is this some kind of weird mini panic attack? I had my heart all checked out earlier in the year before these attacks started due to chronic chest pain which came about in December which I still suffer with, and no known cause. I'm worried I'm about to have a heart attack or something's wrong with it so I'm scared to exercise or anything.

I've also noticed that my heart always seems to beat heavier than usual over the past few months, not fast or anything, just heavy and I'm always aware of it.

I go in to see my doctor again next week so i'll ask for more heart tests because it's making me feel really uneasy.

Hi

Good to meet you and a big welcome to the forum you have come to a good place. I have not had the 1st symptom you mentioned in your post but do get a racing heart beat when I am feeling anxious and I know that this is a common symptom with anxiety.

I think it is good you are seeing your doctor as it is always best to get a medical opinion. Do ask for more tests as that will put your mind at rest. I hope you start to feel better soon there are various therapies such as CBT which can teach you techniques to help relax and control your anxiety may be an idea to ask your doctor about that.

Hibee.
I try not to worry about the future -- so I take each day just one anxiety attack at a time.

Hello and welcome!

I am sorry that you are experiencing these troubling symptoms. They sound a lot like PVCs, a fairly common benign irregular heart beat...but I am glad that you are getting it checked out by a doctor. It is always important to start there!

If you care to do a search for PVCs here at Healingwell, you will find so many posts to read through, and get a feeling of what you are dealing with...and see that you are not alone!

I hope that you get good news from your doctor, and that you can then concentrate on lessening your anxiety.

Post with us anytime:)
