i never used to have this problem...and since my moms illness and passing i cant be alone...if i am even for a bit i get the heart pounding panic attack...
i have to have a phone with me at all times...i usually cant stay at home by myself for more than 30 min...mind starts wandering...all the bad stuff comes rushing back in...
dont know what to do...i still get panic attacks at home with people here...just not as frequent...

Hello SH30,
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. It is a matter of changing your thoughts and behaviors. Different methods work for different people. Your options would be a Therapist, self help anxiety books and workbooks and group therapy.

If you find yourself in a panic attack, deeper breathing from your diaphragm works well as well as just rolling with how you feel rather than fighting it.

It takes time and patience to reprogram your thoughts from negative to positive and takes daily effort to achieve, but once you find what works best for you, your anxiety can become manageable and a fairly normal life can be expected.
Good luck and best wishes......WM
Stop fighting your symptoms, tensing against how you feel, trying to push your symptoms away. Don't spend everyday going round in circles trying to figure it all out. This just adds more stress and anxiety to how you feel.
It is your desperation to rid yourself of how you feel that keeps your anxiety alive.
The less you fear your symptoms, the less they mean.

One positive is that you are getting out, most of the time people with these issues including myself usually want to hunker down and stay at home and not be around others..so look at that as a positive.

I can understand your not wanting to be home alone but for me it is hard to go out when I am feeling anxious and depressed so I want to be at home which is my "safe zone".

I would venture to guess that you are grieving the loss of your Mother as well as perhaps feeling some abandonment issue 2nd degree to her death. The loss of a significant loved one; a spouse, a parent, a sibling or a child, throws our entire world upside down, creating what feels like a crater-sized hole in our heart, that we often believe will never be filled again. I lost many loved ones including my parents, all 3 of my siblings and the biggest loss of all was the car crash that my son died in.  To this day I miss each of them as they cannot be replaced but look to the other important people in your life that are there for you and know it takes time to heal.

Perhaps grief counseling would help you with your feelings of fear at being home alone.

Gentle Hugs,
Kitt

If you look at the top of the screen you will see this :

Click on My Profile and you will see where you can fill out your info and if you want your email address to be included in your profile this is where members would look for it.

I should have added, if you click on a members name it will automatically open their profile and I see Cinder has her email in her profile.

Glad to see the two of you connected.

Kindly,
Kitt
