I went to the Dr and he told me that infact lexapro wasn't working well for me because after a year it would have helped me to calm down. He said is normal t have a panic attack now and then , and that therapy can help me with that but he said being high , and having extreme anxiety panic all the time,is not good because lexapro should help me with that so he says I have to stop it. He said it was better to move on with cymbalta , he really said it has worked for many people . I am a little scared because I don't want my anxiety to even go worse , he said I can take it tonight , he gave me some pills to try it for 2 weeks then I have another visit scheduled. ITs making me nervous :S !! I am afraid I will freak out and have panic :S!!
Could It give me more anxiety ? has anyone been treated with cymbalta for anxiety and OCD?
what can I expect from it ?cymballta has bad side effects ?

Thank you for helping !!

Hi there.:)

It is really hard to say whether this med wil or won't work out for you...even if someone who has been on it responds, their exerience could be completely different from yours.

Here is a page that gives reviews on Cymbalta, but keep in mind that you will have to try it for yourself and see if it is for you.

I wish you the best with this!  Let us know how it goes for you.:)

I am scared that it will give me panic attacks :(!! But well :/ I will try if I do get panic attacks the worse it can happen is me fainting ! OK God help and lets try this thing! I read like 100000 reviews the doctor said mostly it will give me drowsiness ,that he has never heard of anyone having more panic attacks or anxiety but he said it can happen and if it does then we will try something else. The thing is he is making me switch from lexapro to cymbalta like one day after the other is this common?

I am sure that you are going to be fine...going from an SSRI to an SNRI should be fine, and your doctor knows how these medications work, so try to put your trust in that.

When starting many A/D meds, there is a chance in an intial increase of symptoms...however, I have heard mostly of just a general feeling of anxiety, and actually a decrease of attacks. I can't promise that this will be your experience, but even the initial increase of anxiety will subside.

And besides, if you think about it...if you do try it...yes there is a chance that you could have a panic attack...but if you are already having them, then you are pretty much going to go on having them, without the benefit of the med that may eventually help if you don't give it a try.

Also, I am sorry that I can't remember this...but are you also set up with therapy?  I can't recommend it enough, and if you are reluctant, or not having success with medication, it could possibly allow you to be less in need of an Rx. (I say possibly, b/c everyone is different, and while therapy is an excellent treatment, not everyone has the same results.)

If you decide to go for it, let us know. We are here to support you either way.:)

Thank you !!I took it last night, I couldnt sleep but I dont know if it was because I was nervous or the actual medicine. I can't tell how I feel right now, I feel like weird but not horrible. I really hope this pill works at least for the panic attacks and some anxiety. :S

Good Morning.  I was scared everytime I started a new med and found that some worked and some did not do the job or because they quit working I would have to start on another med.  After 30 years I fianlly am able to make the switch to a new med accepting that the weeks getting onto the med can be difficult but as each week goes by the side effects become less.

I was on Cymbalta for over a year and for me it worked but as each of us is different your experience will be unique to you.  This is a time for you to be good to yourself and don't over extend yourself by taking on tasks that can wait.

Much of anxiety is caused by fear of the unknown and starting a new medicatiion can cause anxiety but remember you will get better so thinking pleasant thoughts and do not dwell on the ' what ifs?".

Kindly,
Kitt

I felt today still anxious and nervous. Some heart palpitations too. But somehow I didn't have that on the edge feeling, I felt a tiny bit better. Panic attacks were shorter on time. I mean I am still anxious but I think this pill didn't give much side effects I feel shaky but not as bad as lexapro until today. This is the first day so I should't expect much but at least I feel this cymbalta doesnt give me as horrible side effects such as lexapro. I don't know God help me and It will work, Zoloft worked the first day next day I had panic attacks so one can't never be sure with this pills. First day it was weird and anxious but It could have been worse. I went to work , I went to eat with my parents to store and did some readings for my classes. I am scared sometimes doing things and having panic attacks like " what if i go to this place or with this person and I get a panic attack ? of hanging with my friends and having panic attacks i dont know why. I have done it before but I guess since I am anxious my mind focuses on something "whatever it might be !! to worry" so as everything that causes me anxiety, I have to do it and I will do it. :P I am going to hang out with my friends by myself on a panic anxious state next week. The therapist said that when you allow yourself to feel the fear of something, like if I fear bacteria i should go make my hands dirty and allow in purpuse to make myself scared of it and not do nothing just feel the fear , he explain that the mind can't be in panic all time that i have to do exposure. So next week I am going out everywhere with panic attacks but whats the worse it can happen ;P ? that I faint ?? If i do i guess someone will pick me up, or I can take the xanax, But I am going out ;S!!!

Thank you for everything !
